The three-phase structure of solid-state fermentation (SSF) directly affects substrate degradation and fermentation efficiency. However, the mechanism of three-phase regulation on lignocellulose utilization and microbial metabolism is still unclear. Based on comparative transcriptome analysis, a lignocellulose degrading enzyme, manganese peroxidase (GlMnP), which was significantly affected by water stress meanwhile related to triphase utilization, was screened to reveal the mechanism using Ganoderma lucidum as the reference strain.

The emergence and prevalence of hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKP) have proposed a great challenge to control this infection. Therefore, exploring some new drugs or strategies for treating hvKP infection is an urgent issue for scientific researchers. In the present study, the clpV gene deletion strain of hvKP (ΔclpV-hvKP) was constructed using CRISPR-Cas9 technology, and the biological characteristics of ΔclpV-hvKP were investigated to explore the new targets for controlling this pathogen.

The uncertain ferroptosis-related role of berberine in prostate cancer was explored using network pharmacology methodology. Integration of ferroptosis targets in prostate cancer from the Genecard database and berberine targets from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology and SwissTargetPrediction databases revealed 17 common targets. Among these, 10 hub genes, including CCNB1, CDK1, AURKA, AR, CDC42, ICAM1, TYMS, NTRK1, PTGS2, and SCD, were identified.

Enzyme-powered synthetic colloidal motors hold promising potential for medical applications because of their unique features such as self-propulsion, sub-micrometer size, fuel bioavailability, and structural and functional versatility. However, the key parameters influencing the propulsion efficiency of enzyme-powered colloidal motors still remain unclear. Here, we report the effect of the neck length of urease-powered pentosan flask-like colloidal motors on their kinematic behavior resembling the role of bacterial flagella.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease. Among its causes, chronic kidney disease due to type 2 diabetes (CKD-T2D) is the primary subtype. This study aims to provide an updated assessment of the global disease burden of CKD-T2D from 1990 to 2021.
