The study of the effect of a new antitumor drug cortifen on humoral immunity in experiments on CBA mice showed that it is a potent and long acting immunodepressant. The degree of immunity depression was found to be drug dose-dependent. The hormonal components of cortifen failed to exert the immunodepressive action.

It has been found that paphencyl, preparations II-72 and II-119 decrease to an equal measure the leukocyte count in the peripheral blood and the myelokaryocyte count in animals immunized with sheep red blood cells and in intact CBA mice. The maximal action develops by the 2nd-3rd day after cytostatic administration. Immune reactions of mice were shown to be more susceptible to the action of the drugs under study as compared to hemopoiesis.

Tests staged on line-bred mice immunized with sheep erythrocytes brought evidence that cystostasan and iodobenzoteph cut down the number of antibody-forming cells both with the primary and secondary immune response. The maximal effect becomes manifest following introduction of the drugs on the 1--2nd day after immunization of the animals. Iodobenzoteph brings down the number of hemopoietic stem cells colonies while cytostosan leaves them unchanged.
