Cu alloys have been widely used in the manufacture of liners because of their high density, good plasticity, and excellent thermal conductivity. In order to achieve excellent jet stability and penetration performance, it is necessary to further improve the mechanical properties of Cu-based liners. Nevertheless, the simultaneous enhancement of strength and ductility of the Cu alloys remains a huge challenge due to the strength-ductility trade-off phenomenon of metals/alloys.

Article Synopsis
  • The research focuses on developing self-healing and recyclable polyurethane elastomers amid the fossil fuel energy crisis, using a unique cross-linking agent with furan groups based on Diels-Alder chemistry.
  • Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) were incorporated to enhance the mechanical properties of the elastomer, yielding composites with better strength based on tensile testing.
  • The reversible nature of the covalent bonds in the elastomer allows for recycling at high temperatures and offers repair capabilities for damaged coatings, highlighting its potential use in metal protection applications.
