Factors associated with caregiver burden among caregivers of children with cerebral palsy in Sri Lanka.

A cross-sectional study was conducted among 375 caregivers of children with cerebral palsy attending a tertiary care setting in Sri Lanka, to identify factors associated with caregiver burden. Caregiver burden was defined as "caregiver's response to various stressors associated with caregiving" and was measured using Caregiver Difficulties Scale (CDS), developed specifically for this purpose. Multivariate linear regression was used to assess associations between sociodemographic, stressor, and coping factors and caregiver burden; and to examine whether coping reduces the effect of stressors on burden.

How good is the quality of antenatal care in the Colombo district of Sri Lanka in diagnosing and treating anaemia?

Background: Sri Lanka has shown relatively good maternal outcome indicators for a developing country. However, high maternal deaths from haemorrhage and anaemia raise questions about the quality of detection and treatment of anaemia at field antenatal clinics, which is the primary care setting for pregnant women.

Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the quality of facilities and services and how satisfactory antenatal care is with regard to diagnosis and treatment of anaemia.

Prevalence of mental health problems in adolescent schoolchildren in Galle District, Sri Lanka: eight months after tsunami.

The present study was conducted to assess the prevalence and associations of mental health problems (MHPs) among adolescent schoolchildren in Sri Lanka 8 months after the tsunami disaster. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the Galle Municipality area, Sri Lanka. The study instrument consisted of a self-administered questionnaire and the validated Sinhalese version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire.
