To document a case of `preliminary` identification of Alternaria sp (a phaeohyphomycotic agent) based on morphology in tissue section in a patient with allergic fungal rhinosinusitis. A 25-year-old male, a known asthmatic in a post Covid -19 state, presented with headache, facial swelling and nasal block with discharge of brownish mucoid material. Debrided material from the right maxillary antrum and middle turbinate showed brownish mucoid material admixed with firm to hard degenerated bony spicules sent in formalin and subjected for histopathological examination.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are pattern recognition receptors present on the surface of cells playing a crucial role in innate immunity. One of the TLRs, TLR4, recognizes LPS (Lipopolysaccharide) as its ligand leading to the release of anti-inflammatory mediators as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines through signal transduction and domain recruitment. TLR4 homodimerizes at its intracellular TIR (Toll/interleukin-1 receptor) domain that helps in the recruitment of the TRAM/TICAM2 (TIR domain-containing adaptor molecule 2) molecule.

Primary non-Hodgkin lymphoma of liver is a very rare malignancy. Here we report the case of a 50 year old female who presented with dull ache in the right hypochondrium and decreased appetite since 1 month. CT scan of abdomen and pelvis showed an enlarged liver with an ill- defined soft tissue lesion arising from left lobe measuring 13 × 9 cm suggestive of primary hepatic neoplasm.

Background: Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the world, affecting mainly women residing in low- and middle-income countries. Progression from a pre-invasive phase to that of an invasive phase generally takes years and provides a window of opportunity to screen for and treat precancerous lesions.

Methods: This study is being conducted at four sites in north Karnataka, India.

Objective: Preeclampsia and eclampsia remain the major causes of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity worldwide, causing 12-15% of direct maternal deaths. Although preeclampsia and related hypertensive disorders of pregnancy continue to affect 8% of all pregnancies, the incidence of preeclampsia has increased 40% in recent years. This study was carried out to analyse the different placental lesions and fetal outcome in different grades of maternal hypertension and to see if there is a linear relationship of the same.

Bortezomib (BT) is a reversible inhibitor of proteasome which is used in the treatment of hematological cancers. To study the degradation behavior, BT was subjected to acidic, basic, neutral, photolytic, oxidative and thermal degradation conditions as per ICH guideline Q1A (R2). A gradient HPLC method has been developed for separating all the degradation products formed under various degradation conditions on Waters XBridge C column (150 mm × 4.

Increasing child vaccination coverage to 85% or more in rural India from the current level of 50% holds great promise for reducing infant and child mortality and improving health of children. We have tested a novel strategy called Rural Effective Affordable Comprehensive Health Care (REACH) in a rural population of more than 300 000 in Rajasthan and succeeded in achieving full immunization coverage of 88.7% among children aged 12 to 23 months in a short span of less than 2 years.

Stereoselective total synthesis of (-)-kunstleramide, a cytotoxic dienamide from the bark of gamble, has been accomplished by using Keck's asymmetric allylation and Trost isomerization as key reactions. Application of the developed strategy for the synthesis of a series of amide analogues () was also reported. Furthermore, the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anti-proliferative activities against human epithelial lung carcinoma (A549), human epithelial cervical cancer (HeLa), human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF7) and human neuroblastoma (IMR32) cell lines using the SRB assay.

A comprehensive investigation of chemical constituents from brown algae Stoechospermum marginatum yielded ten known spatane compounds (1-10). To develop the compound libraries on these scaffolds, a series of semi synthetic derivatives was prepared (1a-1d, 2a, 4a, 11 and 12) and investigated for their anti-microbial and anticancer activities. The results indicated that compounds 2a, 4, 1b and 4a exhibited potent cytotoxic activities against B16F10 cancer cell line with IC50 values of 3.

This article reported the synthesis of fully functionalized aglycone of lycoperdinoside A and B. Pd-catalyzed Stille-Migita cross coupling between E-vinyl iodide 6 and E-vinyl stannane 23 established the highly substituted E,E-diene unit present in lycoperdinoside A and B. The other two Z-olefins present in the molecule were introduced by means of cis-selective Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction with Still-Gennari phosphonate.

A simple, highly efficient and stereoselective synthetic route has been developed for synthesis of alpinoid-C (1) and its analogues (2, 3 and 4) from commercially available starting materials by using Wittig olefination, Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation, Grubbs cross metathesis as key steps. All the compounds showed moderate anti-proliferative activity against human leukemia/carcinoma (U-937, THP-1, COLO-205 and HepG2) and mouse melanoma (B16-F10) cancer cell lines. Compounds 3 and 4 are found to be most potent with an IC(50) of 7.

1-Benzyl ethers of (E)- and (Z)-hex-3-en-1,6-diols and hept-3-en-1,7-diols undergo a smooth oxidative cyclization with DDQ in the presence of In(OTf)(3) through a sequential C-H bond activation and an intramolecular Prins cyclization to afford the corresponding trans- and cis-fused hexahydro-2H-furo[3,2-c]pyrans and octahydropyrano[4,3-b]pyrans respectively in good yields with an excellent stereoselectivity. Aryl tethered homoallylbenzyl ethers such as benzyl ethers of (E)- and (Z)-6-arylhex-3-enyl alcohols undergo a tandem Prins/Friedel-Crafts cyclization in the presence of stoichiometric amounts of DDQ and SnCl(4)via the benzylic C-H bond activation to furnish the corresponding trans- and cis-fused hexahydro-1H-benzo[f]isochromenes in good yields with complete stereoselectivity.

Bioremediation of chrysene in soil matrix was evaluated in soil slurry phase bioreactor in conjugation with metabolic functions (aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic), microenvironment (single and mixed) conditions and nature of mixed consortia (native/resident mixed microflora and bioaugmented inoculum). Twelve experiments were operated independently in agitated-batch reactor keeping all other operating conditions constant (substrate loading rate--0.084 g chrysene/kg soil-day; soil loading rate--10 kg soil/m(3)-day (3:25 soil water ratio); operating temperature--35+/-2 degrees C).

Bioremediation of soil-bound anthracene was studied in a series of bio-slurry phase reactors operated in periodic discontinuous/sequencing batch mode under anoxic-aerobic-anoxic microenvironment using native soil microflora. Five reactors were operated for a total cycle period of 144 h (6 days) at soil loading rate of 16.66 kg soil/m(3)/day at 30 +/- 2 degrees C temperature.
