To determine whether there is higher degree of platelet and/ or coagulation activation in sickle cell anaemia (SS) patients in complications and with clinical risk factors. A cross sectional study was conducted at a tertiary health care centre in central India with study groups: sickle cell disease (SCD): sickle cell anaemia (SS) and sickle cell trait (AS) consisting of 100 subjects each and controls (AA) with 40 subjects. Platelet aggregation (PA) with ADP, collagen and epinephrine, PT and aPTT were performed in all subjects and PA with ristocetin in ten candidates of each group.
