Adhesions are recognised as one of the most common complications of abdominal surgery; their diagnosis and prevention remains a significant unmet need in surgical therapy, affecting negatively a patient's quality of life and healthcare budgets. In addition, postoperative pelvic adhesions pose a high risk of reduced fertility in women of childbearing age. These 2023 Global Recommendations on Adhesion Prevention in Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgery provide agreed-upon statements to guide clinical practice, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the accumulation of Aβ plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, resulting in synaptic loss and neurodegeneration. The retina is an extension of the central nervous system within the eye, sharing many structural similarities with the brain, and previous studies have observed AD-related phenotypes within the retina. Three-dimensional retinal organoids differentiated from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) can effectively model some of the earliest manifestations of disease states, yet early AD-associated phenotypes have not yet been examined.

A prospective analysis of a retrospective data of patients with cervix carcinoma treated by minimal invasive surgery at high-volume gynecology oncology center analyzing that minimal access surgery is an acceptable treatment modality in cervix carcinoma. The study included 423 patients who underwent laparoscopic/robotic radical hysterectomy after pre-operative evaluation after taking their consent and obtaining ethical approval from the IRB. Post-operatively, patients were followed up at regular intervals for clinical examination and ultrasonography for a median range of 36 months.

Robot-assisted minimal access surgery (MAS), compared with conventional MAS, has shown a number of benefits across several therapeutic indications but its use for transthoracic esophagectomy (TTE) requires further evaluation. Here, we report the first-in-human series of major esophageal resections performed using a next-generation tele-operated robotic surgical system in a single center. Robot-assisted TTE was performed using the Versius Surgical System by a single surgeon to assess the robotic system's ability to achieve tumor clearance (measured by R0 resection rates) whilst reducing anastomotic leakage rates.

Background: Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) is expressed in the brain exclusively on microglia and genetic variants are linked to neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Nasu Hakola Disease (NHD). The Trem2 variant R47H, confers substantially elevated risk of developing late onset Alzheimer's disease, while NHD-linked Trem2 variants like Y38C, are associated with development of early onset dementia with white matter pathology.
