Research suggests that previously burglarized targets, and targets located near such locations, are at an increased risk of being victimized. However, this elevated risk is only temporary and appears to subside over time. The boost account is one theory that attempts to describe the occurrence of repeat, and near repeat, burglaries.

However, its neural bases remain unclear. Here we address this gap by systematically identifying and quantitatively synthesizing neuroanatomical studies of DLD using co-localization likelihood estimation, a recently developed neuroanatomical meta-analytic technique.

Previous research has established that gender and sexual minority (2SLGBTQ+) youth experience worse mental health and substance use outcomes than their heterosexual and cisgender counterparts. Research suggests that mental health and substance use concerns have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The current study used self-reported online survey responses from 1404 Canadian 2SLGBTQ+ youth which included, but were not limited to, questions regarding previous mental health experiences, diagnoses, and substance use.

Although declarative memory declines with age, sex and education might moderate these weaknesses. We investigated effects of sex and education on nonverbal declarative (recognition) memory in 704 older adults (aged 58-98, 0-17 years of education). Items were drawings of real and made-up objects.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in particular is associated with repetitive mild TBI (mTBI) and is characterized pathologically by aggregation of hyperphosphorylated tau into neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). CTE may be suspected when behavior, cognition, and/or memory deteriorate following repetitive mTBI.

Nevertheless, research examining WM specifically in older adults remains limited, despite the global rapid increase in human life expectancy. We examined WM in a large sample ( N = 754) of healthy older adults (aged 58-89) in a non-Western population (Chinese speakers) in Taiwan, on a digit n-back task.

Sedative medication is undesirable in this population due to the need for early postoperative neurological assessment. Acupuncture has previously been shown to reduce pre-operative anxiety, but studies involving neurosurgical patients are lacking.

Currently, the diagnosis of CTE can only be definitively established postmortem. However, a new positron emission tomography (PET) ligand, [F]T807/AV1451, may provide the antemortem detection of tau aggregates, and thus various tauopathies, including CTE.

Most research on neurodevelopmental disorders has focused on their abnormalities. However, what remains intact may also be important. Increasing evidence suggests that declarative memory, a critical learning and memory system in the brain, remains largely functional in a number of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Two heavy-duty engines, a 2006 engine with no exhaust aftertreatment, and a 2007 engine with a diesel particle filter (DPF), were tested on an engine dynamometer over four different test cycles. Emissions from soy- and animal-based biodiesels, a hydrotreated renewable diesel, and a gas to liquid (GTL) fuel were evaluated at blend levels from 5 to 100%.

Objective: The present study was designed to understand how being with dying hospice residents affects hospice volunteers well-being and the role of spiritual practice in ameliorating the fear of death.
Design: A one-year longitudinal study of two volunteer cohorts (N = 24 and N = 22) with repeated measures of spiritual practice, well-being, and hospice performance during one-year service as volunteers.
A postal survey of 100 hospitals throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland was conducted to assess current practice in the pre-operative assessment and use of pulmonary artery catheters in patients undergoing elective abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Seventy-four completed questionnaires were received. The survey revealed that 53% of respondents hold designated preoperative assessment clinics, attended by anaesthetists in 54% and cardiologists in 26%.

The inhibition has been shown to be triggered by a drop in cell pH under the non-energizing conditions which prevail in ischemic cells (Rouslin, W J Biol Chem 258, 9657-9661 (1983). In the present study we showed that the ATPase inhibition produced in situ in ischemic cardiac muscle was preserved in submitochondrial particles (SMP) prepared from mitochondria isolated from the ischemic tissue.

Under normal growth conditions monoenoic acids were derived from the desaturation of saturated fatty acids and comprised over 50% of the fatty acids at position 1 of the glycerol moiety. The monoene content of positions 1 and 2 decreased in response to the addition of di- and polyenoic acids to the culture medium.

The complete amino acid sequence of the mitochondrial ATPase inhibitor peptide was determined. The molecule contains 84 residues of which 40 are charged amino acids that occur in clusters along the chain. A section of the chain, located at the COOH-terminal end, contains several duplicated regions, the most prominent of which are pentapeptides.

The surgical correction in the primary position was compared in one group of patients who underwent horizontal surgery without an A or V pattern with a matched group who underwent horizontal surgery with monocular vertical displacement for the A and V patterns. No significant difference was found, and it was concluded that the determination of the amount of horizontal surgery is the same whether monocular vertical displacement is performed or not.
