[Chronic bronchitis and ventilatory capacity of the lungs in relation to the function of small airways in workers in a Coke-Processing Plants in Zabrze].

In 449 male workers of the Zabrze Coking Plant (age 18-62 years) a questionnaire analysis of presence of bronchitic symptoms was carried out. The following ventilatory parameters were also assessed: FVC, FEV1, PEF, MEF75, MEF50, MEF25. Chronic bronchitis was diagnosed in 30.

[Study of the effect of salbutamol inhalation on the function of small airways in patients with chronic bronchitis without ventilatory disorders using simple spirographic tests].

In 68 males with chronic bronchitis and normal standard spirometric parameters and in 30 healthy males the following were assessed: VC, FEV1, V50 and V75 before and after Salbutamol inhalations. In chronic bronchitis Salbutamol slightly decreased FEV1 values. Significant improvement of V50 and V75 was seen after Salbutamol inhalations in chronic bronchitis.

[Effect of hemodialysis on the functional status of small airways and partial pressure of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood of patients with chronic uremia].

In 18 patients with chronic uremia the effect of 4 hour hemodialysis on VC, FEV1, PEF, MEF25, MEF50, MEF75, PaO2 and PaCO2 were analysed. Significant falls in PaO2 and PaCO2 were found after ending the four hour long hemodialysis. Only nonsignificant changes in the other parameters were observed.
