Intrinsic transparent conductors (ITCs) correspond to a unique class of TCs that do not need intentional doping. This character can provide ITCs significant advantages by avoiding severe "doping bottlenecks" and dopant scattering usually encountered in conventional transparent conducting oxides (TCOs). However, the realization of ITCs generally requires the minimization of photon absorption and reflection in metallic conductors, which is difficult due to the gapless nature of their band structures.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is prone to peritoneum or omentum dissemination, thus giving rise to the formidable challenge of unresectable surgery and a dismal survival rate. Although niraparib holds a pivotal role in the maintenance treatment of OC, its effect on suppressing metastases during primary intervention remains enigmatic. Recently, we initiated a prospective clinical study (NCT04507841) in order to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of neoadjuvant niraparib monotherapy for advanced OC with homologous recombination deficiency.

Solid Earth tide represents the response of solid Earth to the lunar (solar) gravitational force. The yielding solid Earth due to the force has been thought to be a prolate ellipsoid since the time of Lord Kelvin, yet the ellipsoid's geometry such as major semi-axis's length, minor semi-axis's length, and flattening remains unresolved. Additionally, the tidal displacement of reference point is conventionally resolved through a combination of expanded potential equations and given Earth model.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines a new type of Famennian ovule from Late Devonian China, characterized by three distinct integumentary wings, which are crucial for wind dispersal.
  • Unlike earlier ovules that are usually surrounded by a cupule, this new discovery lacks one, suggesting a different evolutionary function for the wings, possibly aiding in photosynthesis and wind dispersal.
  • Mathematical analysis indicates that three-winged seeds are optimally adapted for wind dispersal compared to seeds with one, two, or four wings.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPis), known for causing synthetic lethality in tumor cells, also influence the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) to help fight tumors, although the specifics are still unclear.
  • - Researchers used T-cell receptor (TCR) sequencing and various imaging techniques on clinical samples and mouse models to explore immune responses triggered by PARPis, particularly focusing on a process called immunogenic cell death (ICD) linked to pyroptosis.
  • - Results showed that PARPis increased TCR clonal expansion and promoted a more inflamed TIME with more immune cell infiltration, specifically highlighting pyroptosis as a critical mechanism through which PARPis activate the immune response against tumors

Intelligent nursing wheelchairs significantly enhance mobility and independence for elderly individuals with disabilities. However, traditional designs often suffer from large turning radii that restrict their functionality in confined spaces. Addressing this critical challenge, this study introduces an innovative design utilizing a Mecanum wheel chassis that allows for omnidirectional movement, significantly improving maneuverability and stability.

Reliable and precise straightness profile measurements are crucial for manufacturing ultra-precision components and are capable of further enhancing their accuracy. The Fourier three-probe (F3P) straightness measurement allows for precise assessment of the workpiece profile on the machine by eliminating the harmful influence of the error motion of the sliding table. However, the probe spacing uncertainty deteriorates the measurement accuracy remarkably; and, the affecting mechanism behind this phenomenon has not yet been studied in detail.

Electrocatalytic reduction of CO into multicarbon (C) products offers a promising pathway for CO utilization. However, achieving high selectivity towards multicarbon alcohols, such as ethanol, remains a challenge. In this work, we present a novel CuO nanoflower catalyst with engineered tip curvature, achieving remarkable selectivity and efficiency in the electroreduction of CO to ethanol.

Colitis caused by infections, especially , has long been a common disease, underscoring the urgency to understand its intricate pathogenicity in colonic tissues for the development of effective anti-bacterial approaches. Of note, colonic epithelial cells, which form the first line of defense against bacteria, have received less attention, and the cross-talk between epithelial cells and bacteria requires further exploration. In this study, we revealed that the critical anti-bacterial effector, TFEB, was primarily located in colonic epithelial cells rather than macrophages.

The precise measurement of the gravity of Earth plays a pivotal role in various fundamental research and application fields. Although a few gravimeters have been reported to achieve this goal, miniaturization of high-precision gravimetry remains a challenge. In this work, we have proposed and demonstrated a miniaturized gravimetry operating at room temperature based on a diamagnetic levitated micro-oscillator with a proof mass of only 215 mg.

N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor (NMDAR) activation mediates glutamate (Glu) toxicity and involves bleomycin (BLM)-induced acute lung injury (ALI). We have reported that bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) are NMDAR-regulated target cells, and NMDAR activation inhibits the protective effect of BM-MSCs on BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis, but its effect on ALI remains unknown. Here, we found that Glu release was significantly elevated in plasma of mice at d 7 after intratracheally injected with BLM.

The possibilities of cross-species transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) between humans and important livestock species are not yet known. Herein, we used the structural and genetic alignment and surface potential analysis of the amino acid (aa) in angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), tyrosine kinase receptor UFO (AXL), and neuropilin 1 (NRP1) in different species with substantial public health importance. The residues interfacing with the N-terminal domain (NTD) or receptor-binding domain (RBD) of S were aligned to screen the critical aa sites that determined the susceptibility of the SARS-CoV-2 to the host.
