Aim: This study assessed the safety of Polyoxidonium 6 mg lyophilisate for solution for injection in routine practice with a special focus on signs or symptoms of potential adverse renal effects.

Materials & Methods: A local, multicenter, prospective, open-label, noninterventional, uncontrolled postauthorization safety study was conducted in 15 healthcare centers in Slovakia. Adult patients who received commercially available Polyoxidonium 6 mg lyophilisate for solution for injection as a part of their routine care were observed for one cycle of treatment, consisting of five or ten injections.

Psoriasis vulgaris and atopic dermatitis are considered as frequent dermatoses. There are descriptions of possible combination of both diseases when patients with psoriasis vulgaris display signs of atopy or clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis. We have analysed 9 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and increased levels of IgE.

Defective IgA production resulting in decreased or deficient levels is one of the most commonly occurring derangements of the immune system. Therapy consisting in the administration of gammaglobulin preparations is strictly contraindicated in cases of zero or virtually zero values of IgA as there is a high probability of anti-IgA autoantibody formation. The authors present a simple yet very sensitive method based on the principle of ELISA by which patients with a deficit can be differentiated from those with a reduced IgA level.

Clinical and laboratory parameters were studied in a randomly selected series of East Asian population. A total of 31 subjects, whose ages ranged from 18 to 20 years and who came to Czechoslovakia for a long term study of working stay, were examined. The series represented healthy population.
