Background: Bacteriophage therapy has a long history in the treatment of musculoskeletal and skin/soft tissue infections, particularly in the former Soviet Union. Due to the global rise in antimicrobial resistance, phage application has experienced a resurgence of interest and expanded to many countries.
Objectives: This narrative review aims to provide clinical microbiologists, infectious disease specialists and surgeons a brief history of bacteriophage therapy for human musculoskeletal and soft tissue infections, as well as data on current practices and ongoing clinical studies.

To investigate the potential role of bacteriophages in the treatment of surgical infections, we conducted a retrospective analysis of four surgical patients who have sought treatment at the Eliava Phage Therapy Center, Tbilisi, Georgia. Two patients had chronic osteomyelitis, one presented with a diabetic foot ulcer, and the fourth patient had developed a severe infectious complication after skin grafting surgery. Patients were treated with different combinations of bacteriophage preparations, based on the sensitivity of the isolated bacterial strain toward commercially available bacteriophages.

As a result of the study, it was determined that with aging the diameter of peripheral blood erythrocytes increases and an indicator of deformability, in contrary, decreases.

Blood of 56 healthy volunteers (Tbilisi, Georgia) of different sex and gender was studied (the patients were divided in 8 groups (7 patients in each groups): 1 - 18-25 years old male, 2 - 18-25 years old female, 3 - 25-44 years old male, 4 - 25-44 years old female, 5 - 44-60 years old male, 6 - 44-60 years old female; 7 - 60-80 years old male, 8 - 70-80 years old female). In groups 6 and 8 were women in menopause was determined according 12 months of amenorrhea.

We determined the molecular weight and some properties of multiple forms of phenol oxidase from tea leaves and four other perennial plants. It was shown that multiple high- and low-molecular forms of phenol oxidase differed in substrate specificity. Low-molecular forms of the enzyme mostly demonstrated hydroxylase activity, while high-molecular forms showed catechol oxidase activity.

Inulin is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in many plants. It consists of β 2-1 linked D-fructose molecules having a glucosyl unit at the reducing end.

It was found that this compound is a potent inhibitor of phenoloxidase of the reversible and mixed type. The inhibitory effect of sulfur dioxide on phenoloxidase provided grounds for a new biotechnological approach to the production of instant green tea.
