Purpose: Neurocytomas represent 0.25 to 0.5% of primary brain tumours and are mainly found in young adults.

A particular subset of these complications, known as delayed intracranial hemorrhage (DICH), is however recognized for its particularly poor prognosis. We primarily aimed to identify epidemiological characteristics associated with DICH, to shed light on its occurrence and potential risk factors.

There are growing concerns about the massive use of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCA). Our aim was to evaluate the performance of a new imaging protocol, performed without GBCA injection, in the detection of tumoral residue or local recurrence after surgery of parafalcine and convexity meningiomas.

This anatomical study aimed to compare the usefulness of a modified extended endoscopic approach, the so-called far-medial endonasal approach (FMEA), versus the traditional posterolateral far-lateral approach (FLA).
Methods: Ten fixed silicon-injected heads specimens were used in the Skull Base ENT-Neurosurgery Laboratory of the University Hospital of Strasbourg, France.
Background: The prevalence of post-surgical lumbar neuropathic radiculopathy is approximately 30%. Poor response to the recommended treatments for neuropathic pain, namely antidepressants and/or gabapentinoids, requires the development of new techniques to prevent chronic pain. One such well-tolerated technique is the administration of autologous plasma enriched in platelets and fibrin (PRF).

AVM embolization can be offered as stand-alone curative therapy or prior to surgery or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) (pre-embolization). The Treatment of Brain AVMs Study (TOBAS) is an all-inclusive pragmatic study that comprises two randomized trials and multiple registries.

Surgical management depends on 2 factors: mobility and reducibility; in cases of irreducible dislocation or persistent compression, odontoidectomy should be considered.
Case Discussion: We present the case of a 13-year-old boy with severe BI, causing cervical myelopathy with progressive gait disorder.
Pituitary abscess (PA) is a rare occurrence, representing less than 1% of pituitary lesions, and is defined by the presence of an infected purulent collection within the sella turcica. Pas can be classified as either primary, when the underlying pituitary is normal prior to infection, or secondary, when there is associated a pre-existing sellar pathology (i.e.

This study aimed to validate this classification using current routine imaging techniques.
Methods: The different cavernous ICA bending angles were measured on 109 MRI TOF sequences, within a retrospective database of patients with no sellar lesions.
Over the last few decades, deciphering the alteration of molecular pathways in brain tumors has led to impressive changes in diagnostic refinement. Among the molecular abnormalities triggering and/or driving gliomas, alterations in the MAPK pathway reign supreme in the pediatric population, as it is encountered in almost all low-grade pediatric gliomas. Activating abnormalities in the MAPK pathway are also present in both pediatric and adult high-grade gliomas.

Volunteer ophthalmologists were assigned to three groups (senior [SG], junior [JG] and novice [NG]) according to their experience in corneal suturing. All participants performed three sessions of corneal wound closure by three stitches.

Patients excluded from the RCTs are followed in parallel treatment and observation registries, allowing a comparison between RCT and registry patients.
Methods: The first randomized clinical trial (RCT-1) offers 1:1 randomized allocation of intervention versus conservative management for patients with arteriovenous malformation (AVM).
Objective: The role of surgery in the treatment of malignant gliomas in the elderly is not settled. The authors conducted a randomized trial that compared tumor resection with biopsy only-both followed by standard therapy-in such patients.
Methods: Patients ≥ 70 years of age with a Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) score ≥ 50 and presenting with a radiological suspicion of operable glioblastoma (GBM) were randomly assigned between tumor resection and biopsy groups.
Surgical access to the temporo-mesial area may be achieved by several routes such as the sub-temporal, the temporal trans-ventricular, the pterional/trans-sylvian, and the occipital interhemispheric approaches; nonetheless, none of them has shown to be superior to the others. The supra-cerebellar trans-tentorial approach allows a great exposure of the middle and posterior temporo-mesial region, while avoiding temporal lobe retraction. A prospective multicenter study was designed to collect data on patients undergoing endoscopic-enhanced SCTT approach to excise left temporo-mesial lesions.

Objective: Our objectives were to describe early postoperative HS (PoOHS) including ICBs, hypomania and psychotic symptoms during the first 3 months following STN-DBS (V1) and their prognosis at 1 year (V2).
Objective: The Treatment of Brain Arteriovenous Malformations Study (TOBAS) is a pragmatic study that includes 2 randomized trials and registries of treated or conservatively managed patients. The authors report the results of the surgical registry.
Methods: TOBAS patients are managed according to an algorithm that combines clinical judgment and randomized allocation.
Objective: Chiari malformation type I (CM-I) is frequent in children and remains a surgical challenge. Several techniques have been described for posterior fossa decompression. No decision algorithm has been validated, and strategies are highly variable between institutions.

Volumetric approaches were evaluated for a more accurate estimation of tumor size. This study included 57 patients and compared two volume measurement methods to determine the size of different glioblastoma regions of interest: the contrast-enhancing area, the necrotic area, the gross target volume and the volume of the edema area.

For this goal, High-Resolution Magic Angle Spinning Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (HRMAS NMR) spectroscopy-based assessment of tumor margins during surgery has been an effective method. However, the time required for metabolite quantification and the need for human experts such as a pathologist to be present during surgery are major bottlenecks of this technique.

DCI rarely occurs after tumor resection. We performed a systematic review of the literature together with a case report of DCI after meningioma resection.

Method: All consecutive adult and pediatric patients undergoing frameless brain biopsies were included. Successfully achieving diagnosis was the primary endpoint, analysis of all periprocedural complications was the secondary endpoint, and the tertiary endpoint was the length of the procedure, with the aim of assessing of the learning curve for each operator over time.
Background: Glioblastoma invariably recurs after primary Stupp tumor therapy and portends a poor prognosis. Cryoablation is a well-established treatment strategy for extra-cranial tumors. The safety and efficacy of interventional MR-guided cryoablation (iMRgC) has not been explored in recurrent glioblastoma.
