In recent years, nano and micro drug delivery systems targeting the colon have gained more attention due to increasing interest in treating colon diseases such as colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, , Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Usually, nanocarriers are exploited for their enhanced permeability properties, allowing higher penetration effects and bioavailability, while microcarriers are primarily used for localized and sustained release. In bowel diseases, carriers must go into a delicate environment with a strict balance of gut bacteria (, colon), and natural or biodegradable polymers capable of ensuring lower toxicity are preferred.

However, until now, there has been no independent strategy to assess the quality of each synthetic image in the absence of ground truth. In this work, we propose a Deep Learning (DL)-based framework to predict the accuracy of synthetic CT in terms of Mean Absolute Error (MAE) without the need for a ground truth (GT).

Oleuropein used as reagent was extracted with water from olive leaves, widely available and inexpensive waste from the olive oil production chain. The reaction has been carried out in a series of ChCl-based DES of increasing acidity, with or without the addition of an amount of water, under microwave and conventional heating.

The PAs have been employed as hydrogen bond donors in the formation of natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) with choline chloride (ChCl). The fast and cheap esterification method by formation of choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvents promotes the derivatization of PAs with various fatty acids as acylating agents in the absence of organic solvents and catalysts.

Along this research line, our work attempts the completion of a model aimed at evaluating how, and to what extent, physical-crystal-chemical and morphological parameters of mineral fibres prompt adverse effects leading to carcinogenesis.
Methods: toxicology tests that deliver information on the 10 key characteristics of carcinogens adopted by the International Association for Research on Cancer (IARC) have been systematically collected for a commercial chrysotile, standard UICC crocidolite and wollastonite.
Background: Febrile seizures (FSs) are the most common form of epilepsy in children aged between six months and five years. The exact cause is unknown, but several studies have demonstrated the importance of genetic predisposition, with increasing involvement of receptors and ion channels. The present study aims to identify novel pathogenic variants in Italian patients with FSs.

Early identification could enable targeted therapeutic interventions. In this study, we propose a hybrid pipeline that, starting from plasma glucose data acquired during the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT), allows us to classify the two types of patients through computational modeling and artificial intelligence.

In particular, the oral route is the preferred method of administration for gliadin-based formulations, due to the affinity of this biomaterial for the gut mucosa. However, up to now, this has been demonstrated only by means of in vivo or ex vivo studies.

The integrated system was applied to produce hydroxytyrosol acetate from oleuropein extracted from olive leaves. Different reactor configurations for each reaction were tested and individually optimized to select the MBR to ensure high conversion and continuous production of oleuropein aglycone (OA), hydroxytyrosol (HY) and hydroxytyrosol acetate (HA).

Background And Objectives: Genome-scale metabolic networks (GEMs) represent a valuable modeling and computational tool in the broad field of systems biology. Their ability to integrate constraints and high-throughput biological data enables the study of intricate metabolic aspects and processes of different cell types and conditions. The past decade has witnessed an increasing number and variety of applications of GEMs for the study of human diseases, along with a huge effort aimed at the reconstruction, integration and analysis of a high number of organisms.

Current industry and regulatory practices require arduous real-time data collection over three years; thus, reducing this bottleneck while still ensuring product quality would enhance the speed of medicine to patients. We developed a parallel-pathway kinetic model, combined with Monte Carlo simulations for prediction intervals, to predict the long-term (2+ years) stability of biotherapeutic critical quality attributes (aggregates, fragments, charge variants, purity, and potency) with short-term (3-6 months) data from intended, accelerated, and stressed temperatures.

One of the biggest challenges for delivering therapeutics to the central nervous system (CNS) is the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). blood-brain barrier models with high predictability are essential to aid in designing parameters for new therapeutics, assess their ability to cross the BBB, and investigate therapeutic strategies that can be employed to enhance transport.

However, limited information exists regarding cancer mortality among immigrants based on specific birth countries and cancer types. We used population-based registries and followed 10 million individuals aged 20 years or older in Sweden between 1992 and 2016.

These unique properties are tightly regulated and controlled by complex genetic and molecular mechanisms, whose understanding is essential for both basic and translational research. A large number of studies have mostly focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms governing pluripotency and differentiation of ESCs, while the regulation of proliferation has received comparably less attention.

The absence of specific pharmacological strategies for this syndrome represents one of the major problems in the management of MASLD patients. Lifestyle interventions and adherence to a healthy diet are the main cornerstones of current therapies.

Yet no studies have focused on perinatal infections with the potential for neonatal sequelae, including cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Toxoplasma gondii (TG). Here we investigate whether incidence rates of maternal primary CMV and TG infection in pregnancy were affected by the implementation of pandemic-related public health measures.
