Background: Patients with multiple co-morbidities undergoing cataract surgery are at risk of hypoxia and hypercarbia secondary to the rebreathing of the accumulated carbon dioxide under the surgical drapes. They are also at risk of fire accidents due to the hyperoxic condition secondary to oxygen supplementation.
Objectives: The main aim of the study was to determine the lowest level of hemoglobin oxygen saturation while providing medical air in comparison with oxygen.
Introduction: Airway management of infants is challenging, and video laryngoscopes can help reduce intubation attempts and improve glottic visualization. In this study, we compared the Besdata video laryngoscope with the Miller laryngoscope in neonates and infants 6 months of age.
Methods: After obtaining informed written consent from the parents, we randomized 80 infants scheduled for elective surgery requiring endotracheal intubation into two groups, Group DL and Group VL.
Background And Aims: Postoperative sore throat (POST) can be as high as 42% in supraglottic devices. LMA® Protector™ is a novel second-generation laryngeal mask airway (LMA) with Cuff Pilot™ technology that allows continuous cuff pressure monitoring. Elevated cuff pressure is a risk factor for POST in supraglottic devices, so we conducted this study to determine whether continuous cuff pressure monitoring can alleviate POST.

We addressed the need for routine pharmacological aspiration prophylaxis in at-risk population by assessing the change in gastric volume using ultrasound with and without pharmacological acid aspiration prophylaxis.
Material And Methods: A single-center, randomized double-blinded trial, with 200 adult patients scheduled for elective surgical procedures under GA, were randomized into a prophylaxis group, in which the patients received oral famotidine and metoclopramide, and a no prophylaxis group, in which the patients did not receive any prophylaxis.

Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) is a congenital disorder inherited autosomal recessively, caused by deficiency of platelet membrane glycoprotein IIb-IIIa complex leading to defective platelet aggregation, and manifesting as mucocutaneous bleeding. Parturients with GT requiring emergency cesarean section are at high risk for perioperative bleeding complications. The anesthetist should be prepared with the necessary measures to control bleeding.

The primary aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of adding a small dose of fentanyl intrathecally (12.

The usefulness of this technique during flexible videoscopy by novices has not been evaluated. So, we aimed to compare the retrograde transillumination and conventional technique of flexible videoscopy by novices.
