Use of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor in assisted reproductive technology: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), a glycoprotein, has been used in women undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). We decided to undertake a systematic review to evaluate the effectiveness of G-CSF in women with thin endometrium and recurrent implantation failure (RIF) undergoing ART. The outcomes included an increase in endometrial thickness, live birth, clinical pregnancy rates and adverse effects.

Minimally invasive surgical techniques versus open myomectomy for uterine fibroids.

Background: Fibroids are common benign tumours arising in the uterus. Myomectomy is the surgical treatment of choice for women with symptomatic fibroids who prefer or want uterine conservation. Myomectomy can be performed by conventional laparotomy, by mini-laparotomy or by minimal access techniques such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.

Aim: To evaluate whether semen processing at 37°C yield sperm with better DNA integrity compared to centrifugation and processing at room temperature (RT) by swim-up method.

Settings: This study was done at tertiary care center attached to Reproductive Medicine Unit and Medical College.

Design: Prospective pilot study.

Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery in gynecology: LESS is actually how much less?

Gynecological surgery is evolving continuously. Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) is the recent addition in this field that stands to benefit almost 40% of women in midlife who will eventually undergo adnexal surgery or hysterectomy. Carried out through a single umbilical incision, the potential benefit of single site surgery is improvement in operative morbidity and cosmesis.
