Background: Gastrointestinal specialists depend on internal medicine (IM) teams to accurately identify acute gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB). We evaluated whether IM residents' assessment of GIB correlated with the impressions of GI specialists during consultations at an inner-city university teaching hospital.

Methods: A questionnaire was distributed to house staff requesting GIB consultations and to the GI fellows performing the consults between August 2011 and April 2012.

Myeloid Sarcoma is a rare tumor composed of myeloblasts occurring at an extramedullary site like bones, or various soft tissues. Myeloid sarcoma may involve the gastrointestinal tract very rarely either solitarily, or occurring simultaneously with acute myeloid leukemia. Its diagnosis is challenging and needs biopsy and immunohistochemical staining.

Although numerous epidemiological studies have provided convincing evidence for an increase in the prevalence of colorectal cancer (CRC) in obese individuals, the precise mechanisms involved have not been elucidated. Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) is a gastrointestinal regulatory peptide whose primary physiologic role is to stimulate postprandial pancreatic insulin secretion. Like insulin, GIP has been linked to enhanced nutrient efficiency, which occurred during the course of evolution.
