Use of dermoscopy for diagnosis of exogenous ochronosis.

Exogenous ochronosis consists of chronic hyperpigmentation of areas previously treated with topical agents such as hydroquinone, resorcinol, antimalarials and phenol. Early diagnosis allows to promptly suspend the causative agent and it is imperative since the available therapeutic options are scarce and have presented so far unsatisfactory results. Three cases of exogenous ochronosis on the face which were diagnosed with the use of dermoscopy are presented.

Periorbital hemangiomas: the need for active management - report of two cases.

Hemangioma is the most common tumor of childhood and is commonly located on the head or neck. The orbit is often affected and early and aggressive intervention is required to prevent serious visual complications. This paper reports on two cases.

Primary cutaneous alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in a pediatric patient.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common soft tissue tumor in childhood; however, it rarely affects only the skin. This case report describes a child with a painful nodule on her face. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma, and a multidisciplinary team then followed up the patient.

Huntchinson-Gilford Syndrome (Progeria) is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by premature aging. It is reported the case of child whose alopecia started at the age of 6 months on the occipital region. The child also presented scleroderma plaques on the abdomen.

Multifocal paracoccidioidomycosis: a diagnostic challenge due to late cutaneous manifestation.

Paracoccidioidomycosis is an endemic systemic mycosis in Brazil, frequent in the rural areas and often in adult men. It is reported the case of a farmer, who is an illicit drugs' user, with insidious manifestations affecting kidneys, lungs, lymphonodes, bones and lately, the skin, with a delay of more than one year in the diagnosis and effective therapy It is important to include paracoccidioidomycosis as differential diagnosis, even in the absence of cutaneous lesions, for early recognition and treatment, given the high mortality of this entity.

Laugier-Hunziker syndrome is an acquired macular hyperpigmentation of the oral and genital mucosa, often associated with longitudinal melanonychia. We report a case of longitudinal melanonychia on fingernails and toenails, hutchinson's signal and lenticular pigmentation of her lips and oral mucosa. Histopathological analysis is typical and had a broad differential diagnosis.
