The study aimed to evaluate how effective a lactic acid and lactoserum liquid soap is in preventing bacterial vaginosis (BV) recurrence after treatment with metronidazole and to assess the participants' quality of life.
After diagnosing BV in 123 women, those cured received metronidazole and then used the soap for genital hygiene with follow-up visits scheduled at 30, 60, and 90 days.
Results showed a recurrence rate of BV at 19.0%, 24.2%, and 7.1% at each visit, respectively, and significant improvements in quality of life were noted among the women who completed the study.
