Atmospheric plasma spray (APS) remains the only certified industrial process to produce hydroxyapatite (Hap) coatings on orthopaedic and dental implants intended for commercialization. Despite the established clinical success of Hap-coated implants, such as hip and knee arthroplasties, a concern is being raised regarding the failure and revision rates in younger patients, which are increasing rapidly worldwide. The lifetime risk of replacement for patients in the 50-60 age interval is about 35%, which is significantly higher than 5% for patients aged 70 or older.

In the present research, polycrystalline samples of LaSmSrMn Cr O are prepared using the self-combustion method. Then, we have studied their crystalline structure, and dielectric and electrical properties. The X-ray diffraction study shows that all the samples exhibit a single phase with orthorhombic structure (space group ).

This work reports an analysis of the dielectric properties of reduced graphene oxide mixed into epoxy resin, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, in the frequency range 10[Formula: see text]-10[Formula: see text] Hz and over the temperature range of 300-400 K, using impedance spectroscopy. For this study, a series of samples were prepared with various filler contents. Using the electric modulus formalism, it has been found that these composites exhibit below and above the percolation threshold [Formula: see text] a critical behavior of the dielectric relaxation phenomenon due to the single [Formula: see text]-relaxation, which is associated with the glass-rubbery transition of the epoxy matrix above the glass transition temperature.

Background: Kallikrein-related peptidases (KLKs) have been proposed as potential cancer biomarkers. Contradictions in literature led us to clarify the role of KLK5 as a breast cancer predictor, as well as its association with KLK7 expression.

Patients And Methods: Semi-quantitative RT-PCR detected KLKs 5 and 7 in 80 breast tissues, 74 neoplastic and 6 normal.

Human tissue kallikrein-related peptidases are a family of 15 secreted serine proteases, located at chromosome 19q13.4. Most of them have been reported to be potential biomarkers for several carcinomas and other diseases.

Recent evidence suggests that many tissue kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis. Kallikrein 8 (KLK8) plays a role in the physiology of the central nervous system. Kallikrein 7 (KLK7) takes part in skin desquamation.

The human tissue kallikrein family of serine proteases (hK1-hK15 encoded by the genes KLK1-KLK15) is involved in several cancer-related processes. Accumulating evidence suggests that certain tissue kallikreins are part of an enzymatic cascade pathway that is activated in ovarian cancer and other malignant diseases. In the present study, OV-MZ-6 ovarian cancer cells were stably co-transfected with plasmids expressing hK4, hK5, hK6, and hK7.

Background: The human tissue kallikrein gene family (KLK1 to KLK15) encodes a group of 15 serine proteases (hK1 to hK15), several of which have been implicated in cancer-related processes.

Methods: We established a specific quantitative reverse transcription-PCR assay for full-length KLK7 mRNA that excluded amplification of the exon 2 deletion splice variant (the latter does not encode a functional protease), and evaluated full-length KLK7 mRNA expression [normalized to human glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (h-G6PDH)] in tumor tissue specimens from 155 breast cancer patients.

Results: High KLK7 mRNA expression (continuous) was significantly associated with a better patient outcome according to both univariate (P = 0.
