Background: European guidelines recommend initial monotherapy in PAH patients with cardiovascular (CV) comorbidities based on the limited of evidence for combination therapy in this growing population.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on incident PAH patients enrolled in the French Pulmonary Hypertension Registry between 2009 and 2020. Propensity score matching was used to investigate initial dual oral combination therapy oral monotherapy in patients with at least one CV comorbidity (, hypertension, obesity, diabetes and coronary artery disease).
Common genetic variants in a conserved cis-regulatory element (CRE) at histone deacetylase (HDAC)9 are a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, including stroke and coronary artery disease. Given the consistency of this association and its proinflammatory properties, we examined the mechanisms whereby HDAC9 regulates vascular inflammation. HDAC9 bound and mediated deacetylation of NLRP3 in the NACHT and LRR domains leading to inflammasome activation and lytic cell death.

Methods: In this retrospective multicentre nationwide cohort, we included patients newly diagnosed with aPAP between 2008 and 2018 in France and Belgium.
Silicon surface alloys and silicide nanolayers are highly important as contact materials in integrated circuit devices. Here we demonstrate that the submonolayer Si/Ag(001) surface reconstruction, reported to exhibit interesting topological properties, comprises a quasi-one-dimensional Si-Ag surface alloy based on chains of planar double-pentagon Si moieties. This geometry is determined using a combination of density functional theory calculations, scanning tunnelling microscopy, and grazing incidence x-ray diffraction simulations, and yields an electronic structure in excellent agreement with photoemission measurements.

We aimed to study the epidemiology and phenotype of lung cancer in an international cohort of SRG variant carriers.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of all adults with SRG variants in the OrphaLung network and compared lung cancer risk with telomere-related gene (TRG) variant carriers.

In an effort to better understand the biology of species and to quantify transmission risk in an area, the identification of mosquito species collected in the field is an essential but problematic task. Objectives: This study describes data from bronchoscopy performed at the diagnosis of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study between 2004 and 2019 in patients aged >18 years with a diagnosis of microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) or granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) who underwent bronchoscopy at onset of the disease. We collected bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and histological findings obtained during bronchoscopy.
Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) caused by infection with the parasite exhibits a large spectrum of clinical manifestations ranging from single healing to severe chronic lesions with the manifestation of resistance or not to treatment. Depending on the specie and multiple environmental parameters, the evolution of lesions is determined by a complex interaction between parasite factors and the early immune responses triggered, including innate and adaptive mechanisms. Moreover, lesion resolution requires parasite control as well as modulation of the pathologic local inflammation responses and the initiation of wound healing responses.
