Intraneural Lipoma of the Digital Nerve: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Intraneural lipomas are rare soft-tissue tumors that can occur particularly within the median nerve. Even fewer cases have been reported of their occurrence within the ulnar nerve. These masses can cause compression neuropathies.

Outcome Study after Nasal Alar/Peri-alar Subunit Reconstruction: Comparing Paramedian Forehead Flap to Nasolabial Flap.

Objective: Contours of the lower nasal third are unique and present challenges in surgical reconstruction. The nasal alar intricate curved anatomy makes the area easily compromised after Mohs surgery. Managing patient and surgeon expectations with regard to aesthetics and functionality remains the reconstructive goal.

Congenital Granular Cell Tumor: Case Report and Review.

Congenital granular cell tumors are infrequently occurring masses occurring on a neonate's gingiva/alveolus. These lesions are benign with no noted malignant transformation, and treatment of excision is based on its effect on the neonate's respiratory ability and/or nutritional intake. The purpose of this review is to discuss a case of a congenital granular cell tumor and its treatment and review of the literature including demographics, histopathology, and operative treatment.

Reconstruction of traumatic lumbar hernias: A case report.

Backround: Traumatic lumbar hernias are not common hernias that are encountered by general or plastic surgery teams, however it is important to understand the anatomy of the hernia in order to be able to correct the flank defect. In our patient, the oblique muscles were sheared off the iliac crest periosteum, however the attachments to the ribs and spine were maintained. We were able to successfully place a pre-peritoneal polypropylene mesh which was secured to the musculature, and re-approximate the oblique muscles to the iliac crest using Mitek QUICKANCHOR sutures.

Utilization of Liposuction for Delayed Morel-Lavallée Lesion: A Case Report and Review.

Morel-Lavallée lesions are irregularly occurring and often overlooked results of traumatic injuries, resulting in potential long-term encapsulation of fluid between soft-tissue layers. The objective in this review was to discuss the delayed presentation of a Morel-Lavallée lesion and operative utility of liposuction in the patient's treatment and review literature with particular focus on diagnosis and therapeutic interventions. The reviewed case demonstrates the presentation and successful therapy of a young female presenting with a MLL and contour deformity.

Aggressive Digital Papillary Adenocarcinoma of the Hand Presenting as a Felon.

Aggressive digital papillary adenocarcinoma is a rare eccrine sweat gland malignancy that is frequently misdiagnosed at initial presentation. Histologically, this tumor is similar in appearance to many adenocarcinomas and as such may be diagnosed as a metastatic lesion. We present the case of a patient with digital papillary adenocarcinoma, which was initially diagnosed as a felon.

Aging and demographic plasticity in response to experimental age structures in honeybees (Apis mellifera L).

Honeybee colonies are highly integrated functional units characterized by a pronounced division of labor. Division of labor among workers is mainly age-based, with younger individuals focusing on in-hive tasks and older workers performing the more hazardous foraging activities. Thus, experimental disruption of the age composition of the worker hive population is expected to have profound consequences for colony function.
