This study investigates the effectiveness of hydrophobic glass surfaces in reducing microbial populations on touch-enabled digital devices. Hydrophobic coatings have been proposed as a potential solution to minimize microbial adhesion and growth on device surfaces. Here, we intended to investigate the effect of hydrophobic spray on microbial load.

Nonclassical crystallization represents an innovative pathway that utilizes nanoparticles, enabling the generation of single crystals, going beyond a classical mechanism dependent on atoms, ions, or molecules. Our investigation has revealed hierarchical structures emerging via the aggregation and fusion of primary silicon quantum dots (SiQDs). In contrast to the classical ion-by-ion crystallization process, the primary SiQDs initially undergo aggregation, followed by fusion and their subsequent crystallization, leading to the ultrafast crystal growth of sodium hexafluorosilicate (SHFS) microrods with diverse morphologies.

Background And Aim: The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a global threat spreading like a wildfire and taking the world by its storm. It has challenged the healthcare delivery systems and disrupted them in a way no one ever imagined before. We at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India received many patients in the COVID critical care unit (CCU) and found a gradual lack of bundle care compliance resulting in an upsurge of central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) amid the patients.

An accurate and robust Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) method proves surprising versatility in an Intelligent Transportation and Surveillance (ITS) system. However, most of the existing approaches often use prior knowledge or fixed pre-and-post processing rules and are thus limited by poor generalization in complex real-life conditions. In this paper, we leverage a YOLO-based end-to-end generic ALPR pipeline for vehicle detection (VD), license plate (LP) detection and recognition without exploiting prior knowledge or additional steps in inference.

Baicalein is a flavonoid mainly obtained from plants with wide range of biological activities, including neuroprotection. An acute and unexpected chronic stress (UCS) protocol has recently been adapted to zebrafish, a popular vertebrate model in brain research. The present study was aimed to evaluate baicalein's anti-anxiety potential in a zebrafish model by induction, which included neuropharmacological evaluation to determine behavioural parameters in the novel tank diving test (NTDT) and light-dark preference test (LDPT).

Background: Coronary artery disease, one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity globally, is a major burden on healthcare resources. Cardiovascular rehabilitation is highly recommended for the early recovery of patients with Ischemic heart disease by improving the functional capacity and decreasing disease progression. A randomized controlled trial was conducted to assess the effect of nurse-led cardiac rehabilitation (CR) on behavioural parameters.

Mesoporous carbon nitrides with C N and C N stoichiometries created a new momentum in the field of organic metal-free semiconductors owing to their unique band structures and high basicity. Here, we report on the preparation of a novel graphitic microporous carbon nitride with a tetrazine based chemical structure and the composition of C N using ultra-stable Y zeolite as the template and aminoguanidine hydrochloride, a high nitrogen-containing molecule, as the CN precursor. Spectroscopic characterization and density functional theory calculations reveal that the prepared material exhibits a new molecular structure, which comprises two tetrazines and one triazine rings in the unit cell and is thermodynamically stable.

In children with systemic lupus erythematosus on immunosuppressive therapy, infection is a known complication. We present a case of a 12-year-old girl who was previously diagnosed with lupus nephritis but had stopped taking allopathic medications and had been on herbal medicines for a year. She was referred to us with persistent fever and disease activity in spite of restarting immunosuppressive treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • Blue emission from Oleylamine-Acetone clusters forms at room temperature through aging-induced hydrogen bonding, producing flower-like aggregates that emit red light due to exciton delocalization.
  • The aging process leads to imine bond formation between Oleylamine and Acetone, and the paper details the experimental setup and mechanisms behind these molecular interactions.
  • The research also applies this aging method to InS quantum dot systems, demonstrating improved charge transport in photoconductive devices by detaching Oleylamine from the QD surface, ultimately achieving high photocurrent values.

Article Synopsis
  • The study was conducted to evaluate how well plain milk, 5ppm fluoridated milk, and 5ppm NaF in deionized water can help remineralize root caries in teeth, especially in older adults.
  • It involved testing 60 root samples, which were grouped and treated for 14 days after they were demineralized, followed by measuring the hardness of the samples.
  • Results showed significant differences in the remineralization effects, with 5ppm fluoridated milk and 5ppm fluoridated deionized water being more effective than plain milk in restoring demineralized root caries.

The work presented involves the generation of oxygen plasma species at low pressure utilizing an Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) plasma reactor, and their interactions with micron- and nano-sized iron films (M-Fe and N-Fe film respectively) prepared using ethyl cellulose processed at high temperature. A specially designed radiation heater (RH) was used to raise the surface temperature of the film rapidly, exactly at the film interface, where the plasma species interact with the surface. As a result of the interaction of oxygen plasma species and temperature, iron is oxidized to different polymorphs depending on the operating pressure and hence oxygen gas flow rate.

Graphene-nanostructured systems, such as graphene quantum dots (GQDs), are well known for their interesting light-emitting characteristics and are being applied to a variety of luminescence-based applications. The emission properties of GQDs are complex. Therefore, understanding the science of the photophysics of coupled quantum systems (like quantum clusters) is still challenging.

Detection of visible blind UV radiation is not only interesting but also of technologically important. Herein, we demonstrate the efficient detection of UV radiation by using cluster like ZnS quantum dot solid nanostructures prepared by simple reflux condensation technique. The short-chain ligand 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) involved in the synthesis lead to the cluster like formation of ZnS quantum dots into solids upon prolonged synthesis conditions.

Carbon nitrides with a high N/C atomic ratio (>2) are expected to offer superior basicity and unique electronic properties. However, the synthesis of these nanostructures is highly challenging since many parts of the CN frameworks in the carbon nitride should be replaced with thermodynamically less stable NN frameworks as the nitrogen content increases. Thermodynamically stable C N and C N with an ordered mesoporous structure are synthesized at 250 and 300 °C respectively via a pyrolysis process of 5-amino-1H-tetrazole (5-ATTZ).

Mesoporous carbon nitride (MCN) with well-ordered porous structures is a promising anode material for secondary ion batteries owing to their unique physico- and electrochemical properties. However, the practical application of these MCNs in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) is still limited because of their confined interlayer distance, which results in restricted accommodation of Na ions inside the lattice. Here, we report on the synthesis of highly ordered sulfur-doped MCN (S-MCN) through a hard template approach by employing dithiooxamide (DTO) as a single molecular precursor containing carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur elements.

The thermal and moisture instabilities of pure organic lead halide perovskites are the foremost concerns towards the commercialization of perovskite solar cells, which can be avoided by introducing an inorganic cation, such as cesium ion (Cs+) at the A-site of the perovskite crystals. In this report, the impacts of substituted Cs+ cations on the inherent properties such as microstructures, morphology, and photophysics of pure methylammonium lead bromide (MAPbBr3) perovskites have been investigated. Successful formation of mixed MA1-xCsxPbBr3 phases (with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1.
