Backgrounds/aims: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is generally diagnosed at an advanced stage, which limits curative treatment options for these patients. Locoregional therapy (LRT) is the standard approach to bridge and downstage unresectable HCC for liver transplantation (LT). Atezolizumab-bevacizumab (atezo-bev) can induce objective responses in nearly one-third of patients; however, the role and outcomes of downstaging using atezo-bev remains unknown.

Although several studies have reported favorable outcomes with cadaveric early liver transplantation, the experiences with early living donor liver transplantation (eLDLT) are limited. The primary objective was to assess one-year survival in patients with AAH who underwent eLDLT.

Herein, we report an efficient and novel route to synthesize glycine derivatives using ethyl glyoxylate, aniline, and its derivatives catalyzed by bismuth salts. In our scheme, mild, non-toxic, and commercially viable reagents were utilized.

Many gynaecologists do not currently close the peritoneum after caesarean section (CS). Recently, several studies examining adhesion formation after repeat CS appear to favour closure of the peritoneum after caesarean section. We performed a systematic review of the current available evidence with regard to the long-term outcome, mainly in terms of adhesion formation after closure versus non-closure of peritoneum during CS.

An anatomical study of the neurovascular relationships at the trigeminal root entry zone.

We aimed to study the neurovascular relationships at the trigeminal root entry zone in the normal population to help determine the pathogenesis of trigeminal neuralgia. We studied 50 fresh cadavers asymptomatic for trigeminal neuralgia or other facial pain during life and examined the 100 trigeminal root entry zones (REZ) using either a transtentorial (34 cadavers) or an infratentorial approach (16 cadavers). A vascular relationship was seen in 39 REZ (39%).

Perineal trauma: reducing associated postnatal maternal morbidity.

Perineal tears affect about 85% of women undergoing normal delivery in the UK. The proper understanding of perineal anatomy by midwives and trainee doctors is important for the correct recognition of the severity of tears. Measures to minimise perineal tears include teaching pelvic floor exercise during the third trimester, psychological support during labour and good perineal support during the second stage of labour.
