[Experiences with cisplatin (Platidiam) chemotherapy in secondary resistant ovarian carcinomas].

Experiences with cis Platin therapy in cases of ovarian cancers after previous tumorchemotherapy are reported. 23 patients were treated with 100 mg cis Platin (DDP)/m2 (Lachema, CSSR, Brno) in intervals of four weeks following extensive hyperhydratation. [Problems in the therapy of ovarian carcinoma with gestagen-acting hormones].

Our experience concerning the effectivity of progestogens (Noräthisteron 50 mg per os daily) in cases of advanced ovarian cancer is reported. Group 1 (25 pat.) suffering from less sensitive ovarian cancer was treated with cytotoxic drugs and hormones.

The clinical significance of in vitro cytostatics testing, based on 96 patients with ovarian carcinomata over a 4-year period (1976-1979) is reported. Cell cultivation and short-time incubation are used for the purpose. The cytostatic effect are ascertained by microscopic comparative tests and determination of 3H-thymidine and -cytidine incorporation.

[Cytogenetic studies for detection of tumour strain lines of ovarian cancer cells (author's transl)].

Reported in this paper are cytogenetic studies into cell cultures of tumour material, ascites, and pleural effusion obtained from 15 cases of histologically secured ovarian carcinoma. Identification of tumour cell strain lines was the purpose of those studies. Hypodiploid to hypertetraploid chromosome counts were established.

[Dexamethasone for prophylaxis against respiratory distress syndrome - progress report (author's transl)].

Reported in this paper is experience obtained from antenatal RDS prophylaxis, using 4 mg of dexamethasone, on three consecutive days. Treatment was applied to 202 premature newborns, and these were compared with 252 untreated controls born on same term. Good success with statistical significance was recordable only from comparison between the two complete groups.

[The therapy of the early ovarian cancer (T1/T2 M0 N0) (author's transl)].

The paper deals with the results of a randomized prospective therapeutic study concerning 60 patients with ovarian cancers in stages T1 M0 N0 and T2 M0 N0 without (A group) and with (B group) postoperative chemotherapy, who had been operated on under a curative objective. The operative approach covered the abdominal exstirpation of the uterus with both adnexa and resection of the omentum. In stage T1 M0 N0 the 5-year survival time was reached by 94% of the patients without follow-up treatment (A group) and 90% of those who received such treatment (B group).

[Concentration of ascorbic acid in tissue of ovarian carcinoma (author's transl)].

The levels of ascorbic acid were measured in the tissue of 53 ovarian carcinomas and compared to concentrations in normal human ovarian tissue. [Effectiveness of adjuvant chemotherapy in ovarian carcinoma].

A report is given about the efficiency of the so called adjuvant chemotherapy in 26 cases (26 patients suffering from ovarian cancer in the stage T1M0N0) in a time of 10 years (1968-1977).--After the primary operation-therapy, a part of the patients (9) got the cytostatic drugs Trenimon or Cyclophosphamid. The patients of the control group got nothing.

[Beta-glucuronidase activity in human ovarian tissue during the life- and cycle-phases of the woman].

The behaviour of the beta-glucuronidase activity during the life phases and the phase of the cycle of a woman has been studied in 51 human ovaries after the Dohrmann method. The study clearly indicates a dependency on age, that is demonstrated by a rise in beta-glucuronidase activity from 536 microgram Ph/h/g ovarial tissue during full functioning to 705 microgram Ph/h/g ovarial tissue in the premenopause and by dropping to 529 microgram Ph/h/g ovarial tissue in the menopause and the senium. The premenopause values are significantly higher compared to that of the other two functional phases.

[Induction of lung maturation in pending premature delivery and scheduled premature delivery].

At the Women's Hospital of the Medical Academy of Erfurt we have examined the efficiency of dexamethasone on fetal lungs maturation at imminent premature birth and planned untimely delivery. Dexamethasone was given in a randomized series at a dosage of 12-mg per day orally on three successive days. The effectiveness of induction was measured at the percentage of the total phospholipid fraction in the amniotic fluid and at the mortality of RDS in both groups.

201 pretherapeutic tests for sensitivity of gynaecologic cancers against 5-fluorouracil were performed. Only 8.5% of cases proved to be sensitive in tissue culture.

[Modification of glycylglycine dipeptidase activity in the human ovary using follicle stimulating hormone. I].

The glycyl glycine dipeptidase activity under the in vitro influence of two follicle-stimulating hormone preparations of different concentration was investigated in 36 ovaries. A significant impediment was observed under Folistiman, whereas under Anthrogon the impediment could only be detected with higher concentrations. The FSH/ICSH relation evidently plays an important role in this respect.
