Raised blood pressure (BP) is the leading preventable risk factor for cardiovascular diseases that makes a major impact on early mortality and morbidity. Recognizing hypertension in the community, educating people about routine BP monitoring, and improving medication compliance are all important steps in detecting, controlling, and managing hypertension. QT interval has long been associated with ventricular arrythmias and sudden cardiac deaths and the association between the QT interval in healthy subjects and diabetics have been extensively studied, but the association between QT interval and newly diagnosed hypertensive patients have been understudied.
