LiNiCoAlO (NCA) possessing a nano-/micro hierarchical architecture delivers a high specific capacity of 200 mAh/g with an upper cutoff voltage of 4.4 V. However, the structural reconstruction due to the irreversibility of the H2 ↔ H3 phase transition at higher voltage increases the initial irreversible capacity loss and charge-transfer impedance and reduces the performance at higher C-rates.

The structure and morphology of the reinforcing material play an important role in the vibration damping characteristics of polymer composites. In this work, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with different structures and morphologies are incorporated into a polymer matrix. The vibration damping characteristics of the nanocomposites, in Oberst beam configuration, are studied using a free vibration test in cantilever mode.

Upcycling polymer wastes into useful, and valuable carbon based materials, is a challenging process. We report a novel catalyst-free and solvent-free technique for the formation of nano channeled ultrafine carbon tubes (NCUFCTs) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) wastes, using rotating cathode arc discharge technique. The soot obtain from the anode contains ultrafine and nano-sized solid carbon spheres (SCS) with a mean diameter of 221 nm and 100 nm, respectively, formed at the lower temperature region of the anode where the temperature is approximately 1700°C.

Nanoclusters of CdS and PbS were prepared using two different organic solvents as stabilizers in order to understand the factors affecting their formation and stabilization. Growth of the nanoclusters was monitored by optical absorption spectroscopy at regular intervals of time. Mean cluster size was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD).

In this work Carbon nanotubes have been synthesized by arc discharge in open air. A TIG welding ac/dc inverter was used as the power source for arc discharge. During each run of the arc discharge based synthesis, the anode was a low purity (approximately 85% C by weight) graphite rod.
