The genesis of both osteoporosis and sarcopenia is multifactorial, complicated, and interrelated. The present study has been undertaken to analyze the prevalence of low bone mineral density (BMD) and the pattern of imaging markers of sarcopenia (paraspinal skeletal muscle area [SMA] and skeletal muscle index [SMI] with respect to clinicodemographic profile in middle-aged patients (30-45 years) undergoing evaluation for low back pain (LBP). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the lumbosacral spine and/or sacroiliac joints was done on 3T MRI.

Targeting ErbB4 presents a viable strategy to address this challenge. This study employs a comprehensive approach combining structure-based pharmacophore modelling, molecular docking, and MM-GBSA calculations to identify novel ErbB4 kinase inhibitors.

Of all the medications given during general anesthesia, premedication, induction agents, and muscle relaxants play a major role in keeping the hemodynamics properly under control. When laryngoscopy is performed to intubate, a pain stimulus will be generated, leading to a rise in blood pressure and heart rate.

An efficient and direct synthesis of trisubstituted furans was achieved through the reaction of 2-(3,3-bis(methylthio)-1-arylallylidene)malononitriles and acetone under mild conditions in good to moderate yield by the 1,4-Michael addition. Further exploration of the reaction with a sterically hindered aryl group containing 2-(3,3-bis(methylthio)-1-arylallylidene)malononitriles afforded biaryls by an generated nucleophile through the 1,6-Michael addition.

Present PA imaging techniques are predominantly limited to one 2D plane per acquisition. 2D ultrasound transducers, required for real-time 3D PA imaging, are high-cost, complex to fabricate and have limited scalability in design.

Primarily, a two-pot approach has been established which includes the reaction of 3-methylthio-1,5-diaryl-2-pentene-1,5-diones with hydrazine in the first step to afford pyrazole, which was eventually oxidized in the next steps in the presence of iodine in DMSO. Furthermore, we performed both steps in the same pot to afford 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds in good yield.

The switchable roles of allylic alcohol and molecular iodine as reagents and catalysts have been demonstrated in the regioselective allylic alkylation and iodination of imidazoheterocycles employing the mixture of allylic alcohol-I. First, we have explored the catalytic activity of iodine for the allylation of imidazoheterocycles using allylic alcohol in an aqueous medium. The allylation of a library of imidazoheterocycles and other electron-rich heterocycles like indole, pyrazole, 4-hydroxy coumarin, and 6-amino uracil has been achieved by employing this methodology.

Various tri- and tetra-substituted phenols were prepared from different symmetric and asymmetric ketones. The reaction of 2-(bis(methylthio)methylene)-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2)-ones with different ketones provided 1-(methylthio)-9,10-dihydrophenanthren-3-ols in very good yield.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFFunctionalized aryl(heteroaryl) ketones are present in many natural products as key structural components and serve as basic synthetic building blocks for various organic transformation reactions. Therefore, the development of an effective and sustainable route for making these classes of compounds remains challenging yet highly desirable. Herein, we report a simple and efficient catalytic system for dialkynylation of aromatic/heteroaromatic ketones via a double C-H bond activation in the presence of less expensive ruthenium(II)-salt as a catalyst using the weakly and native carbonyl group as the desired directing group.

This supports the recently proposed role of protein vibrations in DAD sampling catalysis. However, use of -dependence of KIEs to suggest DAD sampling associated with protein vibrations is debated.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel methodology, based on wetting and electromigration, for transporting liquid metal, over long distances, at micro-and nano-scale using a stylus is reported. The mechanism is analogous to a dropper that uses 'suction and release' actions to 'collect and dispense' liquid. In our methodology, a stylus coated with a thin metal film acts like the dropper that collects liquid metal from a reservoir upon application of an electric current, holds the liquid metal via wetting while carrying the liquid metal over large distances away from the reservoir and drops it on the target location by reversing the direction of electric current.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe report the first study on the formation of structures with micro- and nano-scopic periodic surface patterns created by the spontaneous flow of liquid metal over thin metallic solid films. Minute details of the flow of liquid gallium over gold are captured at very high magnifications using a scanning electron microscope, and a series of experiments and microstructural characterization are performed to understand the underlying principles of the liquid flow and the pattern formation. This phenomenon is solely driven by wetting, with little influence of gravity, and is aided by a tenacious semi-solidus envelope of the intermetallic compound formed due to the reaction between the liquid metal and the metallic substrate.
