Reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH)-detecting electrochemical sensors are attractive in monitoring and diagnosing various physiological disorders of NADH abnormalities. Robust localization of self-reproducing autocatalytic chemistries is a key step in the realization of heritable and evolvable chemical systems. While autocatalytic chemical reaction networks already possess attributes such as heritable self-reproduction and evolvability, localizing functional multispecies networks within complex primitive phases, such as coacervates, has remained unexplored. Here, we show the self-reproduction of the Azoarcus ribozyme system within charge-rich coacervates where catalytic ribozymes are produced by the autocatalytic assembly of constituent smaller RNA fragments.

Russell-Silver syndrome, also called asymmetric dwarf dysgenesis syndrome is an uncommon genetic disorder presenting with low birth weight, failure to thrive and growth retardation (short stature), developmental delay, facial dysmorphism and hemihypertrophy. The estimated incidence is between 1 case in 3,000 to 1 case in 100,000. We are hereby reporting one such case of postnatal growth retardation with facial dysmorphism and several other features of Russell-Silver syndrome and confirmed by genetic analysis.

Unlabelled: Stress cardiomyopathy/Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TC) is a transient and reversible acute heart failure provoked by physical or emotional stress. This case report highlights about a patient who experienced sudden onset chest pain and breathlessness following epidural steroid injection for pain secondary to prolapsed intervertebral disc. Initial clinical features, electrocardiogram, troponin levels, and transthoracic echocardiography showed features suggestive of acute coronary syndrome but the coronary angiogram was normal.

Human serum albumin (HSA) is a broadly used biomarker for the diagnosis of various diseases such as chronic kidney disease. Here, a fluorescent probe TC426 with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics is reported as a sensitive and specific probe for HSA. This probe is non-emissive in aqueous solution, meanwhile it shows bright fluorescence upon interacting with HSA, which makes it applicable in detecting HSA with a high signal to noise ratio.

Background: Chronic exposure to fluoride in drinking water causes an increase in plasma fluoride levels that is related to a reduction in calcium transport across the renal tubule endoplasmic reticulum and plasma membrane. In the present study, it was hypothesised that varying levels of fluoride present in drinking water are associated with serum levels of calcium and the related hormones vitamin D and parathyroid hormone in pregnant women and newborn infants.
