Introduction: the lacrimal gland size is affected by a variety of pathologic conditions like inflammatory, infections, neoplastic, autoimmune and granulomatous disorders. Earlier, the dimensions of the gland were estimated by extracting lacrimal glands from cadavers, later ultrasonography and computed tomography studies were used, but had limited soft tissue differentiation. The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data from normal orbits and determine lacrimal gland dimensions.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Prashant Madhukarrao Onkar"

  • - Prashant Madhukarrao Onkar has conducted research focusing on the dimensions of the lacrimal gland in the Indian adult population using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), aiming to establish normal size parameters to aid in the diagnosis of various ocular pathologies since previous methods had limitations in soft tissue differentiation.
  • - In a recent article titled "Idiopathic calcinosis cutis of scrotum," published in October 2024 in the National Medical Journal of India, Onkar explores a rare condition affecting the scrotum, indicating an interest in various dermatological and urological conditions.
  • - The research showcases a blend of both imaging studies and clinical observations, reflecting Onkar's interdisciplinary approach in addressing medical challenges and contributing to existing literature on skin and eye-related health issues.
