Background: Children with intellectual and developmental disabilities are at a higher risk of developing dental caries. Few scoping reviews have been conducted in India to understand their issues. We aimed to summarise the distribution and risk factors of dental caries among children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities in India.

Advances in pediatric dentistry: new approaches to pain control and anxiety reduction in children - a narrative review.

Painless treatment determines the quality of pediatric dental care. Although local anesthesia has been used to manage pain in dentistry, children often cite traditional aspirating syringes as a symbol of fear and pain. Adequate pain control during dental procedures may help alleviate fear and anxiety and instill positive oral health attitudes in children.

Purpose Of Review: COVID-19 pandemic has created profound ethical challenges, not only for clinical decision-making but also for defining physician professional conduct.

Recent Findings: Multiple ethical questions arose as the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged globally, including physician obligations in a pandemic, allotment of personal protective equipment, care of unvaccinated patients, discern between evidence-based and unreliable information, addressing end-of-life wishes, implications of involving medical students in a public health crisis, and finally physician burnout aggravated by a pandemic.

Summary: There is a need to redefine existing medical professionalism standards so that future healthcare professionals are well prepared to deal with similar public health crisis.

Opioid sparing multimodal analgesia treats pain after head and neck microvascular reconstruction.

Objective: To compare pain control (opioid consumption and postsurgical pain scores) in head and neck (H&N) free flap reconstruction patients who undergo traditional means of postoperative analgesia including use of opioids versus a novel protocol that includes ketamine and gabapentin.

Methods: Single-institution retrospective cohort study.

Results: Eighty-six patients who underwent H&N free flap reconstruction from 2015 to 2018 were included.

Assessing a Novel Method to Reduce Anesthesia Machine Contamination: A Prospective, Observational Trial.

Background: Anesthesia machines are known reservoirs of bacterial species, potentially contributing to healthcare associated infections (HAIs). An inexpensive, disposable, nonpermeable, transparent anesthesia machine wrap (AMW) may reduce microbial contamination of the anesthesia machine. This study quantified the density and diversity of bacterial species found on anesthesia machines after terminal cleaning and between cases during actual anesthesia care to assess the impact of the AMW.

A Nonsyndromic Autosomal Dominant Oligodontia with A Novel Mutation of PAX9-A Clinical and Genetic Report.

Oligodontia is congenital absence of one or more teeth which has familial abnormality and attributable to various mutations or polymorphisms of genes often associated with malformative syndromes. The present case reports a rare case of non syndromic oligodontia in an 8-year-old girl with missing 14 permanent teeth excluding third molars in mixed dentition. It is a rare finding which has not been frequently documented in Indian children.

Transposition of mandibular lateral incisor-canine (mn.i2.C) associated with hypodontia: a review and rare clinical case.

Transposition is a unique and extreme form of ectopic eruption in which a permanent tooth develops and erupts in the position which is normally occupied by other permanent teeth. Tooth transpositions are rare and they can be complete or incomplete. The aetiology of transposition is still obscure.

Unwarranted variability in antibiotic prophylaxis for cesarean section delivery: a national survey of anesthesiologists.

Background: Current guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommend antibiotic prophylaxis for cesarean delivery immediately before incision. The purpose of this study was to measure and describe correlates of adherence to these guidelines in a sample of United States anesthesiologists.

Methods: We invited a random sample of the membership of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (n = 10,000) to complete an online survey.

Oligodontia in the primary dentition: report of a case.

Congenital absence of primary teeth is relatively rare. The prevalence, possible etiological factors and management of oligodontia was briefly reviewed. This paper reports a rare case of multiple missing (n=18) primary teeth in a 4-year-old male of Asian origin.
