View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn this unique cytology case of a 64-year-old diabetic male who presented with left-sided facial swelling between the ala and lateral canthus of the left eye, conventional fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was done. FNAC of the swelling showed desquamated epithelial cells from the nasolacrimal duct and abundant proteinaceous material admixed with fungal organisms like that of budding yeast forms, morphologically resembling Candida on May-Grunwald-Giemsa stain. Special stain with periodic acid-Schiff revealed positivity for budding yeast forms.

We determined risk factors for rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis (ROCM) post Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among those never and ever hospitalized for COVID-19 separately through a multicentric, hospital-based, unmatched case-control study across India.
Methods: We defined cases and controls as those with and without post-COVID ROCM, respectively.
Upwelling is a physical phenomenon that occurs globally along the eastern boundary of the ocean and supports pelagic fishery which is an important source of protein for the coastal population. Though upwelling and associated small pelagic fishery along the eastern Arabian Sea (EAS) is known to exist at least for the past six decades, our understanding of the factors controlling them are still elusive. Based on observation and data analysis we hypothesize that upwelling in the EAS during 2017 was modulated by freshwater-induced stratification.

The anatomy of the larynx and trachea is well described in literature, however the intraluminal dimensions and contour of the subglottis has not been well documented. Subglottis and trachea are dynamic structures and the internal dimensions and contours have been studied only on cadavers or by plain radiograph which has many technical and measurement errors. Cooling of SST was immediate in response to the strong wind-mixing, and the subsequent upward Ekman pumping sustained the cooling even after the dissipation of Phyan. The biological response mediated by the upward Ekman pumping driven vertical transport of subsurface nutrient showed a time lag of 3-4 days.

The presence of low salinity water mass with "Surface enrichments" of inorganic nutrients was observed relative to 20 m in the mixed layer. Lowest oxygen levels of 19 microM at 3 degrees N in the euphotic zone indicate mixing of low oxygen high salinity Arabian Sea waters with the equatorial Indian Ocean.

Sp1 is a ubiquitous transcription factor and master regulator of various eukaryotic gene expression. Better understanding of the role of increased Sp1 levels on angiogenic regulation and the regulatory regions of that transcription factor may act as a useful target in 'transcriptional therapy'. At the molecular level, butyrate inhibits Sp1-DNA binding activity by promoting Sp1 protein dephosphorylation in EAT cells.
