Long-term Outcome of Coronavirus Disease-associated Mucormycosis: 1-year Follow-up Study from India.

Importance: Invasive fungal infections have recently become a public health problem, particularly in India following the second wave of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). India harbors the world's largest population of patients suffering from diabetes. What prompted the sudden spike of mucormycosis infections in the COVID pandemic needs investigation.

Post-burn spontaneous brain fungation caused by infiltrating Marjolin's ulcer of scalp.

Marjolin's ulcer is a well-recognized, rare, long-term complication of post-burn scar and other chronically irritating local skin conditions. Its infiltration into the skull bones and the underlying dura causing complete destruction is very rare and quiet exceptional. We present an unusual case of spontaneous brain fungation through the scar tissue present over the scalp as a result of flame burn 18 years back.

Microsurgical reconstruction of major scalp defects following scalp avulsion.

Introduction: Total scalp avulsion is a serious injury, commonly occurring in Indian females working with industrial and agricultural machines. Their long hairs often get caught in a rapidly revolving machines, resulting in total avulsion of scalp. Lack of education and awareness in Indian villages often result in these patients coming late to the hospitals when replantation is not possible and scalp reconstruction remains the only available option.
