Background/objectives: recent studies have suggested that components typical of the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) are associated with depression and anxiety prevention. In this sense, the main objective of this study was to analyse the associations between adherence to the MedDiet and depression and anxiety symptoms and to examine whether this relationship is mediated by lean mass and the muscle strength index (MSI).
Methods: a cross-sectional study (based on data obtained from the Nuts4Brain-Z study) was conducted from 2023-2024, involving 428 university students, aged 18-30 years, from a Spanish public university.

Objective: This review aims to analyse the effectiveness of body weight-supported gait training for improving gait and balance in patients with motor-incomplete spinal cord injuries.
Method: Relevant articles were systematically searched in electronic databases to identify randomised controlled trials of body weight-supported gait training (either with methods of robotic, manual, and functional electrical stimulation assistance) versus conventional physical therapy or no intervention. Subjects were >16 years-old with motor-incomplete spinal cord injury (AIS C or D).
Crohn's disease (CD) is a subtype of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). CD is a health problem in Western countries such as the US and European nations and is an idiopathic disease; however, certain cases of CD have been associated with intestinal dysbiosis. A systematic review with a meta-analysis was carried out to determine the efficacy of a diet rich in fiber with or without cointervention to improve remission rates for CD.

Although physical exercise has been shown to have a positive influence on these factors, the effect of resistance exercise on them is not well known. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to 1) estimate the efficacy of resistance exercise on major neuroprotective factors, such as insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), in middle and late life and 2) determine whether the effect is dose dependent.

This umbrella review aims to synthesize the available evidence comparing the US-guided method with the traditional method on SPC insertion in terms of effectiveness, safety and patient satisfaction.
Methods: An umbrella review addressing the comparison between US-guided versus traditional method for SPC insertion in which only systematic reviews of all comparative study designs were eligible was carried out.

This study analyzed changes in the psychological health of students who were in the final year of their nursing degree during the COVID-19 pandemic and later served as nursing professionals in hospitals. Methods: A prospective longitudinal study was conducted over two periods of time (the first in April 2020 and the second 6 months later, in December 2020) with 296 students for a T0 baseline (rate response 68.83%) and 92 students for a T1 post-test sample (response rate 31.

The aim of this study was to estimate the association between egg consumption and body composition indicators and to examine whether this relationship is mediated by protein intake in young adults.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 355 first-year university students (aged 18-30 years) from a Spanish public university.
The "" paradigm suggests that high fitness levels counteract the negative consequences of obesity on cardiometabolic risk, nevertheless, this paradigm has been less studied in children. To analyze the relationship between "" categories and cardiometabolic risk factors in school children, and to examine whether the intensity of physical activity (PA) is related with the fat but fit (FF) category in which the child is classified. We analyzed the baseline measurements of 312 school children aged 9-11 years involved in the clinical trial MOVI-daFit!, including adiposity parameters (BMI, waist circumference, and body fat mass percentage), cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), blood pressure parameters, PA, and biochemical parameters (blood lipid profile, insulin, C-reactive protein, and glycosylated hemoglobin).

Objective: To determine which type of exercise is best for reducing pain and disability in adults with chronic low back pain (LBP).
Design: Systematic review with a network meta-analysis (NMA) of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Literature Search: Six electronic databases were systematically searched from inception to July 2021.
Health professionals predict that the number of people who will suffer and die from oncological diseases will continue to increase. It is vitally important to provide comprehensive care to these patients and prescribe physical exercise programs as adjuvant therapy. The objective of this systematic review was to determine the impact of physical exercise on advanced-stage cancer patients.

The aim of this study was to know what the best body position is to prevent VAP, shorten the length of intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital stay, and reduce mortality among patients undergoing mechanical ventilation (MV).
Methods: We performed a network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials including intubated patients undergoing MV and admitted to an ICU.

Aim: To determine the prevalence and risk factors for dating violence and the correlations between dating violence and violence in social networks, anxiety and depression among nursing students.
Design: A cross-sectional and correlational study.
Methods: This study was conducted with nursing degree students at Spanish university during May 2021.
Unlabelled: Cortisol levels are implicated in emotional and cognitive development in children. However, it is not clear whether daytime napping influences cortisol levels in early childhood. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesize the available evidence regarding the association between daytime napping and salivary cortisol in early childhood.

Data Sources: MEDLINE, Embase, SPORTDiscus, Physiotherapy Evidence Database, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. The search strategy combined relevant terms related to (1) MS; (2) clinical trials; (3) exercise; and (4) fatigue from inception to February 2021.
Context: High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been widely used to prevent and treat cardiovascular risk factors in adolescents and adults; nevertheless, the available evidence in children is scarce.
Objective: To synthesize evidence regarding the effectiveness of HIIT interventions on improving cardiovascular risk factors and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in children from 5 to 12 years old.
Data Sources: We searched 5 databases, Medline, Embase, SPORTDiscus, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science.
Background: Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths in older adults. Physical exercise is a suitable strategy to reduce the risk of falls, but there is little research on the effectiveness of specific exercise modalities.
Objectives: To estimate the effectiveness of Pilates compared to habitual or non-exercise on physical performance and the risk of falls in older adults.
Background: There is evidence of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) but maintaining EBF for the minimum recommended time of 6 months is challenging.
Aims: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of breastfeeding types in a Spanish setting, explore the influencing factors, and analyze the relationships between the reasons for EBF cessation and the EBF durations achieved.
Method: This longitudinal descriptive study included 236 healthy children with standard weight followed up by the public health system.
Objective: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to determine the effect of pulmonary rehabilitation on functional capacity and quality of life in interstitial lung diseases, including those caused by coronaviruses.
Data Sources: MEDLINE, EMBASE, SPORTDiscus, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and MedRxiv from inception to November 2020 were searched to identify documents.
Study Selection: Publications investigating the effect of pulmonary rehabilitation on lung function (forced vital capacity [FVC]), exercise capacity (6-minute walk distance [6MWD]), health related quality of life (HRQOL), and dyspnea were searched.

April 2021
Background: No review to date has evaluated the association between physical fitness and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in healthy children and adolescents. The aims of this systematic review and meta-analysis were to examine the relationship between both cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and muscular fitness (MF) and HRQoL in healthy subjects under 18 years of age and to describe the dimensions of HRQoL in which these relationships are more robust.
Methods: The Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, SCIELO, SPORTDiscus and PEDro databases were systematically searched to collect observational studies that examined the relationship between CRF and HRQoL and between MF and HRQoL in participants under 18 years of age without any diagnosed medical condition.
