Aim: Face masks have been used to prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 transmission. We investigated the impact of face mask use on paediatric patients with asthma.

Methods: Between February 2021 and January 2022, we surveyed adolescents aged 10-17 attending the paediatric outpatient clinic at the Lillebaelt Hospital, Kolding, Denmark with asthma, other breathing problems or no breathing problems.

The BCG vaccine protects non-specifically against other diseases than tuberculosis. Three randomised controlled trials of early BCG in Guinea-Bissau found a 38% reduction in all-cause neonatal mortality. Little is known about the underlying mechanisms.

Neonates with suspected or proven sepsis are treated with ampicillin and until recently with 5 mg gentamicin/kg every 24 h. New guidelines recommend the same gentamicin dose, but with longer intervals depending on gestational age. Two neonates receiving gentamicin every 48 h improved initially, but both deteriorated again before the second dose.
