Health care delivery model in India with relevance to diabetes care.

The Indian healthcare scenario presents a spectrum of contrasting landscapes. Socioeconomic factors, problems with medical infrastructure, insufficiency in the supply of medical requisites, economic disparities due to major differences in diabetes care delivery in the government and private sectors and difficulty in accessing quality health care facilities challenges effective diabetes care in India. The article gives insights into the practical solutions and the proposed White paper model to resolve major challenges faced by the Indian diabetes care sector for effective diabetes care delivered at Jothydev's Diabetes Educational Forum Global Diabetes Convention 2019.

Unicentric Castleman's Disease as a Localized Retroperitoneal Mass: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Castleman's disease (CD) is a rare disorder characterized by proliferation of the lymphoid tissue. Clinically, it presents in two forms either a unicentric (UC) or multicentric. Mediastinum is the most common location.

Effect of storage temperatures and humidity on proximate composition, peroxide value and iodine value of raw cashew nuts.

The equilibrium moisture content (EMC) of raw cashew nuts (RCN) were determined using the standard static gravimetric method at 30 °C, 40 °C and 50 °C for relative humidity (RH) ranging from 43 to 90 %. The proximate composition analysis, peroxide value and iodine value of RCN were assessed at this equilibrium stage. The RCN kept under the humidity of 86 and 90 percentage at all studied temperatures developed mold growth within 24-48 h of time.

The chemical nature of the polyphenols of cashew kernel testa has been determined. Testa contains tannins, which present large molecular complexity and has an ancient use as tanning agents. The use of tannins extracted from cashew testa, considered in many places as a waste, grants an extra value to the cashew.

Distribution of potentially pathogenic enteric bacteria in coastal sea waters along the Southern Kerala Coast, India.

This study evaluated the relationship between the traditional indicators of faecal pollution, total coliforms (TC), faecal coliforms (FC) and Faecalstreptococci (FS), and the presence of few potentially pathogenic enteric bacteria, Vibrio cholerae (VC), Vibrio parahaemolyticus (VP), Shigella spp. (SH) and Salmonella spp. (SL) in coastal sea water.
