Objective: Dolichoectatic vertebrobasilar aneurysms (DVBAs) are expansions of arterial tissue leading to aneurysmal formations without an obvious neck. Their natural history is poorly understood; usually patients are admitted with thromboembolic complications and/or neurological symptoms from the mass effect. There have not been international collective data, and correct timing for highly risky treatments has been under discussion.

To prevent CMV disease, eligible recipients are frequently started on valganciclovir (VGC) prophylaxis post-transplant. Leukopenia has been documented as a primary adverse events of the drug (1).

In this study, we construct a framework for fluoroscopic pose estimation and compare alternative loss functions and volumetric scene representations. We first develop a differentiable projection (DiffProj) algorithm for the efficient computation of Digitally Reconstructed Radiographs (DRRs) from either Cone-Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) or neural scene representations.

Our model is that of dipolar-octupolar rare earth pyrochlore materials, prime candidates for realizing quantum spin ice. This family of three-dimensional quantum spin liquids exhibits fractionalization of spin degrees of freedom into spinons charged under an emergent U(1) gauge field.

This study aimed to summarize the body of original research published on MMAE for the treatment of cSDH through bibliometric methods.
Methods: The Web of Science, Science Citation Index Expanded database was queried on October 1, 2024 for articles related to MMAE for cSDH.
The anatomy of vertebrobasilar perforators has been widely studied in human cadavers, with most reports found in the neurosurgical literature. These arterial perforators are extremely hard to visualize consistently with traditional two-dimensional digital subtraction angiography, but are reliably visible with cross sectional cone beam CT techniques. A clear understanding of this specific neurovascular anatomy and pathology is essential for informed treatment decisions.

Peritoneal access is commonly conducted through an open laparotomy, but laparoscopic peritoneal access is gaining popularity. Many studies have reported the benefits of minimally invasive laparoscopic peritoneal access, but there is no consensus on its use.

Staged stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), either volume-staged (VS) or dose-staged (DS), has been proposed for large AVMs. The relative efficacy of these two strategies, with or without endovascular embolization, is unclear.

The composition is inferred from an energy-dependent sky distribution of UHECR events observed by the Telescope Array surface detector by comparing it to the Large Scale Structure of the local Universe. In the case of negligible extragalactic magnetic fields (EGMFs), the results are consistent with a relatively heavy injected composition at E∼10 EeV that becomes lighter up to E∼100 EeV, while the composition at E>100 EeV is very heavy.

An outstanding challenge for the field of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is structuring to form forms with greater useability. Reactive extrusion printing (REP) is a technique for the direct formation of films from their molecular components on-demand and on-location. Here we apply REP for the first time to zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) and study the interplay of solvent and molarity ratio on the phase distribution between ZIF-8 and ZIF-L in reactive printed films.

Currently, the data submission standard is 22 months after a diagnosis year ends, and the reporting standard is 27.5 months after a diagnosis year ends.

Clarifying the evolutionary histories, prevalence, and defining molecular features of these cells is essential for improving clinical outcomes, since intratumoral heterogeneity provides fuel for acquired resistance to targeted therapies. Here we present a statistically motivated strategy for deconstructing intratumoral heterogeneity through multiomic and multiscale analysis of serial tumor sections (MOMA).

Here, we analyze insights from the National Resident Matching Program Director Surveys, illustrating evolving trends in applicant selection for interviews and for the ranking process, and providing a comparison with other specialties.
Methods: We evaluated 7 surveys administered from 2012 to 2022.
Purpose: Asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infections were widely reported during the COVID-19 pandemic, acting as a hidden source of infection. Many existing studies investigating asymptomatic immunity failed to recruit true asymptomatic individuals. Thus, we conducted a longitudinal cohort study to evaluate humoral- and cell-mediated responses to infection and vaccination in well-defined asymptomatic young adults (the Asymptomatic COVID-19 in Education [ACE] cohort).

Direct thrombin inhibitors can be substituted for heparin in patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia that require anticoagulation. However, the use of direct thrombin inhibitors as a substitute for heparin has not been widely reported in the neuroendovascular literature.

Nurse educators are tasked with developing a nursing workforce equipped with digital literacy to deliver safe, quality patient care. Twitter (now X) chats are an alternative social engagement opportunity for online nursing education students that can facilitate digital literacy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFHuman cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is an important human pathogen that regulates host immunity and hijacks host compartments, including lysosomes, to assemble virions. We combined a quantitative proteomic analysis of HCMV infection with a database of proteins involved in vacuolar acidification, revealing Dmx-like protein-1 (DMXL1) as the only protein that acidifies vacuoles yet is degraded by HCMV. Systematic comparison of viral deletion mutants reveals the uncharacterized 7 kDa US33A protein as necessary and sufficient for DMXL1 degradation, which occurs via recruitment of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Kip1 ubiquitination-promoting complex (KPC).

Data Sources: A systematic review was conducted of PubMed, Embase, and Ovid MEDLINE (Wolters Kluwer) databases from January 2000 to August 2023 for clinical studies comparing fixed- vs. variable-dose 4-PCC for emergent VKA reversal with at least one reported clinical outcome.
Catheter Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) is markedly degraded by all voluntary, respiratory, or cardiac motion artifact that occurs during the exam acquisition. Prior efforts directed toward improving DSA images with machine learning have focused on extracting vessels from individual, isolated 2D angiographic frames. In this work, we introduce improved 2D + t deep learning models that leverage the rich temporal information in angiographic timeseries.

This study investigated the clinical utility of age-adjusted Charlson Comorbidity Index (ACCI) and modified 5-item Frailty Index (mFI - 5) for predicting cSDH resolution following MMAE.
Methods: We identified patients who underwent MMAE at our institution between January 2018 and December 2022, with at least 20 days of follow-up and one radiographic follow-up study.
Transcriptional activation of target genes is essential for TP53-mediated tumour suppression, though the roles of the diverse TP53-activated target genes in tumour suppression remains poorly understood. Knockdown of ZMAT3, an RNA-binding zinc-finger protein involved in regulating alternative splicing, in haematopoietic cells by shRNA caused leukaemia only with the concomitant absence of the PUMA and p21, the critical effectors of TRP53-mediated apoptosis and cell cycle arrest respectively. We were interested to further investigate the role of ZMAT3 in tumour suppression beyond the haematopoietic system.
