It is well evidenced that Early Maladaptive Schemas (EMS) are important mental health determinants, particularly in adolescents and young adults. The short version of the Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ-S3) is widely used globally to assess EMS, and has yet to be validated in the Arabic language. The aim of the current study was to validate the Arabic version of the YSQ-S3 in Arabic-speaking young adults from Lebanon.

Introduction And Objectives: In the setting of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), imaging-based biomarkers could be useful for guiding oral anticoagulation to prevent cardioembolism. Our objective was to test the efficacy of intraventricular blood stasis imaging for predicting a composite primary endpoint of cardioembolic risk during the first 6 months after STEMI.

Methods: We designed a prospective clinical study, Imaging Silent Brain Infarct in Acute Myocardial Infarction (ISBITAMI), including patients with a first STEMI, an ejection fraction ≤ 45% and without atrial fibrillation to assess the performance of stasis metrics to predict cardioembolism.

Blue LEDs-irradiation of a mixture of N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) and perfluoroalkyl iodides (R-I) - Electron Donor Acceptor (EDA)-complex - in the presence of triphenylamines (TPAs) in an aqueous solvent mixture afforded mono-perfluoroalkylated triphenylamines (R-TPA) in good yields. These R-TPA were further subjected to acetone-sensitized [6π]-electrocyclization at 315 nm-irradiation affording exclusively perfluoroalkylated endo-carbazole derivatives (R-CBz) in quantitative yields. Mechanistic studies and photophysical properties of products are studied.

Social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) skills encompass a broad range of interpersonal and intrapersonal abilities that are crucial for establishing and maintaining relationships, managing emotions, setting and pursuing goals, and exploring new learning opportunities. To address the lack of consensus regarding terminology, definition, and assessment of SEB skills, Soto et al. developed the Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Skills Inventory (BESSI), which consists of 192 items, 32 facets, and 5 domains.

DNA nanotechnology leverages Watson-Crick-Franklin base-pairing interactions to build complex DNA-based nanostructures (DNS). Due to DNA specific self-assembly properties, DNS can be designed with a total control of their architecture, which has been demonstrated to have an impact on the overall DNS features. Indeed, structural properties such as the shape, size and flexibility of DNS can influence their biostability as well as their ability to internalise into cells.

Background: As climate change persists, accelerates, and intensifies, and since mitigating factors are absent, mental health impacts are expected to follow the same patterns. Therefore, it appears of utmost importance to deepen and broaden the knowledge and understanding of how and through which mechanisms climate change anxiety (CCA) may interplay with mental health outcomes. Based on the stress-vulnerability model of psychosis, the present study proposed to examine the relationship between CCA and psychotic experiences (PEs), and to test the theoretically-driven hypothesis that death anxiety acts as a mediator in this relationship.

Background: Exploring the levels of death anxiety and factors that can undermine its impact are crucial for the Lebanese nationals. Even though studies have shown various relationships between death anxiety and several factors, very few to no research has been done to show the relationship of death anxiety, gratitude and optimism. Therefore, the objectives of our study were to assess the mediating role of optimism in the association between gratitude and death anxiety, along with investigating the validity and reliability of the Arabic version of the Death Anxiety Scale.

Article Synopsis
  • Accumulation of lipid-laden macrophages is vital in forming atherosclerotic plaques, and reduced ZEB1 levels in these cells lead to larger plaques and increased cardiovascular risk.
  • Male mice lacking ZEB1 in myeloid cells show significant lipid build-up and metabolic issues, indicating that ZEB1 deficiency worsens atherosclerosis.
  • Targeted delivery of ZEB1 using nanoparticles can reverse lipid accumulation and reduce plaque formation, suggesting that ZEB1 could be an important therapeutic target for atherosclerosis.

The visible light-induced perfluoroalkyl (R) radical reactions on peracetylglycals derived from hexoses and pentoses (galactal, glucal, arabinal, and xylal derivatives) were investigated. Various photocatalysts and perfluoroalkyl iodides (R-I) were employed as sources of R radicals with LEDs as the irradiation source. Particularly noteworthy was the use of an Iridium photocatalyst, Ir[dF(CF)ppy](dtbpy))PF, which yielded two distinct product types when applied to glucal.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) serve important homeostatic functions but must be constantly neutralized by an adaptive antioxidant response to prevent supraphysiological levels of ROS from causing oxidative damage to cellular components. Here, we report that the cellular plasticity transcription factors ZEB1 and ZEB2 modulate in opposing directions the adaptive antioxidant response to fasting in skeletal muscle. Using transgenic mice in which or were specifically deleted in skeletal myofibers, we show that in fasted mice, the deletion of , but not , increased ROS production and that the adaptive antioxidant response to fasting essentially requires ZEB1 and is inhibited by ZEB2.

Despite being in the same pathway, mutations of KRAS and BRAF in colorectal carcinomas (CRCs) determine distinct progression courses. ZEB1 induces an epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and is associated with worse progression in most carcinomas. Using samples from patients with CRC, mouse models of KrasG12D and BrafV600E CRC, and a Zeb1-deficient mouse, we show that ZEB1 had opposite functions in KRAS- and BRAF-mutant CRCs.

Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) can differentiate into any cell lineage. Here, we report that ZEB1 and ZEB2 promote and inhibit mesodermal-to-myogenic specification of hESCs, respectively. Knockdown and/or overexpression experiments of ZEB1, ZEB2, or PAX7 in hESCs indicate that ZEB1 is required for hESC Nodal/Activin-mediated mesodermal specification and PAX7 human myogenic progenitor (hMuP) generation, while ZEB2 inhibits these processes.
