Background: Red meat allergy has historically been understood as a rare disease of atopic children, but the discovery of the "α-Gal syndrome," which relates to IgE to the oligosaccharide galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-Gal), has challenged that notion.

Background: Voriconazole is well established as standard treatment for invasive aspergillosis (IA). In 2017, isavuconazole, a new antifungal from the azole class, with a broader pathogen spectrum, was introduced in Sweden. A model has therefore been developed to compare the cost-effectiveness of isavuconazole and voriconazole in the treatment of possible IA in adults in Sweden.

Aim: Invasive mold diseases (IMDs) are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Approved treatments include voriconazole (VORI), liposomal amphotericin B (L-AMB), posaconazole (POSA) and isavuconazole (ISAV). Background: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults is one of the predictive and treatable risk factors for delinquency, including intimate partner violence (IPV). Effective treatment of IPV needs to address personal dynamic risk factors, offender typology, and dynamics of the domestic violence. It is unknown whether treatment of ADHD symptoms contributes to a decrease in IPV.

We present the second case of an enterogenous cyst of the third ventricle. This is a 28-year-old woman who presented with a 2 year history of progressive headaches and memory loss. A cystic lesion of the anterior third ventricle was noted on MRI.

Cost-of-illness analysis of patients with chronic hand eczema in routine care in Germany: focus on the impact of occupational disease.

Chronic hand eczema places a heavy burden on patients, often affecting their ability to work. This paper compares the cost-of-illness and treatment approaches for patients with refractory chronic hand eczema, in relation to whether the disease was occupational or unrelated to work factors. Data from 2 surveys, comprising 310 patients with chronic hand eczema insured by German statutory health insurance (SHI) (including work-impaired patients, work-unaffected patients and non-working patients) and known work-related chronic hand eczema insured by occupational health insurance (OHI).

Comparison of ultrasonography, radiography and a single computed tomography slice for the identification of fluid within the tympanic bulla of rabbit cadavers.

Evaluation of the tympanic bulla (TB) in cases of otitis media in the rabbit can be a diagnostic challenge, although a feature often associated with the condition is the accumulation of fluid or material within the TB. Randomly selected TB from 40 rabbit cadavers were filled with a water-based, water-soluble jelly lubricant. A dorsoventral radiograph and single computed tomography (CT) slice were taken followed by an ultrasound (US) examination.

Background: A multidisciplinary outpatient department was set up in the northern part of the Netherlands because of a local lack of adequate treatment and care for Huntington's disease (HD)patients. Outreaching multidisciplinary care is a novel way to optimise functioning and quality of life of HD patients. The vast majority of patients want to stay home as long as possible.

Sustained effects of incredible years as a preventive intervention in preschool children with conduct problems.

The present study evaluated preventive effects of the Incredible Years program for parents of preschool children who were at risk for a chronic pattern of conduct problems, in the Netherlands. In a matched control design, 72 parents of children with conduct problems received the Incredible Years program. These families (intervention group) were compared with 72 families who received care as usual (control group).

Background: It is broadly assumed that costs caused by chronic hand eczema (CHE) are significant. However, there is a lack of cost-of-illness studies on CHE.

Objectives: To determine the direct and indirect costs of CHE under routine conditions in Germany from the societal perspective.

Early-onset aggressive behavior is known for its negative developmental consequences, and the associated high costs for families, the health care system and wider society. Although the origins of aggressive behavior are to be found in early childhood, the costs incurred by aggressive behavior of young children have not been studied extensively. The present study aimed to investigate whether preschool children with a high level of aggressive behavior already differ in the generated amount of costs and impact on family functioning from children with lower levels of aggressive behavior.

Otitis media in the rabbit commonly results in fluid accumulation in the tympanic bulla. Radiographic detection of fluid in the tympanic bulla is only moderately sensitive in the dog and cat. The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of radiographic detection of fluid in the rabbit tympanic bulla for three different radiographic projections.

Heart rate and skin conductance in four-year-old children with aggressive behavior.

Autonomic underarousal, indicated by low heart rate (HR) and skin conductance level (SCL), is related to childhood aggression. However, results are inconsistent in preschoolers. We assessed HR, SCL, heart rate reactivity and skin conductance reactivity in four-year-old children.

Facial EMG and heart rate responses to emotion-inducing film clips in boys with disruptive behavior disorders.

We examined aspects of emotional empathy across different physiological response systems in boys with disruptive behavior disorders (DBD) and normal controls. Heart rate (HR) and electromyographic (EMG) reactivity in zygomaticus major and corrugator supercilii muscles were monitored during sadness-, anger-, or happiness-inducing film clips. Relative to controls, DBD boys showed significantly less HR reduction during sadness, and a smaller increase in corrugator EMG activity both during sadness and anger.

Laser-intensity dependent vibrational excitation and alignment of molecular ions in the ultrafast multiphoton regime.

H2 molecules were ionized in the ultrafast (approximately 150 fs) multiphoton regime (263 nm, approximately 10(13) W cm(-2)). Earlier experiments investigated the kinetic energies of electrons or ions only. Using a unique experiment, we show that the vibrational excitation of molecular ions contains essential information about the dynamics of the process.
