Advances in personalized medicine and Systems Biology have introduced probabilistic models and error discovery to cardiovascular care, aiding disease prevention and procedural planning. However, clinical application faces cultural, technical, and methodological hurdles. Patient autonomy remains essential, with shared decision-making (SDM) gaining importance in managing complex cardiovascular treatment options.

As part of a multimodal analgesic approach, fascial plane blocks have gained prominence due to their efficacy in providing targeted analgesia with minimal systemic side effects. Among these, the superficial intercostal plane (SPIP) block and deep parasternal intercostal plane (DPIP) block are of notable interest.

In this study, we investigated the impact of TLR4 signalling on mouse ENS dysfunction caused by dextran sulphate sodium (DSS)-induced ileitis.
Experimental Approach: Male C57BL/6J (wild-type [WT]) and TLR4 mice (10 ± 2 weeks old) received 2% DSS in drinking water for 5 days and then were switched to 3-day regular drinking water.

In this study, we compared the value of pathological alpha-synuclein (αSyn) seed amplification assay (SAA) in gastric and duodenal biopsies with skin biopsies in Parkinson disease (PD) patients with different disease duration. The accuracy of αSyn SAA was 87.7% in skin, 67.

This study aimed to analyze the mucosal immune microenvironment in sporadic and metachronous RC. We analyzed the mucosal immune microenvironment in the 25 metachronous RCs present in the IMMUNOREACT 1 and 2 multicentre observational studies (624 patients).

This study aims to analyze the immune microenvironment in healthy rectal mucosa as a possible predictor of tumor infiltration depth, lateral tumor spread, and recurrence of rectal cancer after transanal local excision.
Methods: This study is a subanalysis of data from the IMMUNOREACT 1 and 2 trials (NCT04915326 and NCT04917263, respectively) including all the patients who underwent transanal excision of rectal cancer.
Background: COVID-19 pandemic caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) represents the biggest global health emergency in recent decades. The host immune response to SARS-CoV-2 seems to play a key role in disease pathogenesis and clinical manifestations, with Natural Killer (NK) lymphocytes being among the targets of virus-induced regulation.
Methods: This study performed a single-cell multi-omics analysis of transcripts and proteins of NK lymphocytes in COVID-19 patients, for the characterization of the innate immunological response to infection.
Advanced 3D imaging techniques and image segmentation and classification methods can profoundly transform biomedical research by offering deep insights into the cytoarchitecture of the human brain in relation to pathological conditions. Here, we propose a comprehensive pipeline for performing 3D imaging and automated quantitative cellular phenotyping on Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) human brain specimens, a valuable yet underutilized resource. We exploited the versatility of our method by applying it to different human specimens from both adult and pediatric, normal and abnormal brain regions.

A recent report by the United Nations has shed light on the issue of misidentification and concealment of gender-related killings, which makes it difficult to effectively fight against it. Forensic pathologists are frequently asked to examine cases involving suspected asphyxia to determine whether other persons have been involved.

Indeed, ibrutinib could be associated with severe and occasionally fatal cardiac events. The swift emergence of a ventricular electrical storm with cardiac arrest demanded the prompt initiation of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation to effectively navigate this critically ill patient toward recovery.

Neurological recovery does not always ensure functional recovery, as extracellular matrix (ECM) alterations affect muscle function. This study evaluates hyaluronan (HA) and collagen concentration in the gastrocnemius muscle and thoracolumbar fascia (TLF) in unilateral lower limb PNI rats to explore systemic ECM alterations following PNI and their impacts on functional recovery.

The ankle retinacula include the extensor retinacula, the peroneal retinacula and flexor retinaculum. Despite their potential to explain persistent and unexplained pain following an injury, these structures are often overlooked or incorrectly diagnosed.

Over the years, different methods for VATS training have evolved. The aim of this study is to present an innovative beating-heart filled-vessel cadaveric model to simulate VATS lobectomies.

Although DR and HR expression has been detected within the carotid body (CB), their possible heterodimerization has never been demonstrated. The aim of this work was to verify DR and HR colocalization in the CB, thus suggesting a possible interplay that, in turn, may be responsible of specific DR-HR antagonistic functional implications.

However, the role of immune-cell clusters and inflammatory and glial markers in the gut pathogenetic process needs further elucidation.
Objectives: We aimed to study duodenum tissue samples to characterize PD's enteric nervous system pathology further.
In the context of long-distance space travel, managing medical conditions presents unique challenges due to communication delays. Consequently, onboard physicians must possess proficiency in diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, which has demonstrated its efficacy in the Space. However, there is a notable lack of comprehensive discussion regarding its effectiveness in handling medical scenarios in the Space.

Antimicrobial agents are commonly used to manage CDI-related diarrhoea; however, by aggravating intestinal dysbiosis, antibiotics enable C. difficile spores germination and production of toxins, the main virulence factors.
