Chronic paraproctitis is the third most common proctological disorder that requires surgical treatment. The disease occurs commonly in the age group of 30-50 years, predominantly in men, which determines its socio-economic significance.

[Combined treatment of palmoplantar syndrome in patients under antitumor therapy].

Observation covered 12 patients under various antitumor medications. Group 1 was formed of patients with developed palmoplantar syndrome varying in severity, who received complex treatment including IR-therapy and local antioxidant medication. Group 2 included patients without palmoplantar syndrome, who received preventive treatment with IR-therapy.

[Contemporary potential of nonmedical treatment in ophthalmology].

The article covers treatment results of 90 patients with primary glaucoma simplex of stage 1 and 2 (137 eyes). The authors proved that using a specified magnetotherapy method, when compared to regular medical therapy, causes more fast and marked regression in clinical symptoms and improvement of vision in patients with primary glaucoma simplex of stages 1 and 2.

[Complementary methods of rehabilitation in borderline mental disorders].

The article covers treatment results of 417 patients (186 males and 231 females) aged 18 to 71 years, with borderline mental disorders. Findings are that using specified complementary methods, more when treatment complex is applied, causes better psycho-emotional state in patients with borderline mental disorders, that is supported by results of medical diagnostic tests including psychometry tests (abridged minnesota multiphasic personality inventory, Beck depression inventory, Spielberger-Hanin, test "feeling, activity, mood").

Self-healing coatings based on halloysite clay polymer composites for protection of copper alloys.

Halloysite clay nanotubes loaded with corrosion inhibitors benzotriazole (BTA), 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI), and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) were used as additives in self-healing composite paint coating of copper. These inhibitors form protective films on the metal surface and mitigate corrosion. Mechanisms involved in the film formation have been studied with optical and electron microscopy, UV-vis spectrometry, and adhesivity tests.

[Various familial and demographic indicators in relation to the severity of mental retardation in the probands].

A comparative analysis was made of some familial and demographic characteristics in 3 groups of mentally retarded patients with varying intensity of deficiency. The hypothesis of different etiology of mild and severe mental retardation was confirmed. Appreciable differences were found in the microsocial characteristics in the intermediate group of patients with marked debility.

Analysis of models of single-file diffusion.

Theoretical models of single-file transport in a homogeneous channel are considered. Three levels of channel populations were specified for which different approximations could be used. The results of these approximations are in good agreement with the results of a computer experiment (Aityan and Portnov 1986).

Gating kinetics of ATP-sensitive single potassium channels in myocardial cells depends on electromotive force.

ATP-sensitive single-channel potassium currents were studied in the membrane of rat ventricular myocytes. With an internal K+ concentration of [K+]i = 140 mM, the outwardly directed currents saturated at approximately 1.8 pA in the region of positive potentials independently of the external K+ concentration [K+]o, whereas an increase in [K+]i of up to 300 mM caused a positive shift in the region of current saturation (from approximately +40 mV to approximately +100 mV) and an increase in the level of the saturation up to approximately 4 pA.

Computer simulation of single-file transport.

A stochastic model of single-file transport was developed as the Markov process in continuous time technique. The model was constructed using an EC-1060 computer. Unidirectional fluxes were investigated and populations of channels were correlated with flux fluctuations.
