Aim: To determine the effectiveness of extraventricular drainage (EVD) combined with fibrinolytics in reducing morbidity and mortality rates associated with intraventricular cerebral hemorrhage (IVH).
Material And Methods: A literature review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines (PROSPERO registration number: CRD42022332152). Articles were selected from various sources, including PubMed, Trip Database, LILACS, Cochrane Library, and ScienceDirect.
Background: Chronic kidney disease, for which estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) trajectories are early markers, is frequent in people living with HIV.
Setting: Identify eGFR trajectory patterns according to kidney function and assess associated factors over a 13-year follow-up period.
Methods: We evaluated longitudinal changes and its associated factors in eGFR of 3366 participants according to kidney function with a 2-level, linear, mixed model.
Diagnostic testing is fundamental to medicine. However, studies of diagnostic testing in respiratory medicine vary significantly in terms of their methodology, definitions, and reporting of results. This has led to often conflicting or ambiguous results.

However, its detection on post-thrombectomy conventional non-contrast computed tomography (CT) scan can be complicated by the frequent (and sometimes concomitant) presence of contrast, resulting in changes in management. Our objective was to assess the inter- and intra-rater reliability for the detection of blood and/or contrast on day-1 post-thrombectomy CT scans.

We present three cases of blunt abdominal trauma and two of penetrating trauma that underwent diagnostic laparoscopy in our department. We found a small bowel perforation in one of the cases of blunt trauma that was repaired by externalization of the jejuna loop by one of the ports.

The use of laparoscopy in patients with ventriculo-peritoneal shunts has been controversial. There is concern about the risk malfunction or infection of the shunt as well as about the possibility of adhesions that could make the surgical procedures too difficult to be undertaken by minimally invasive surgery. We present our results in pediatric patients with ventriculoperitoneal shunts that have undergone laparoscopic procedures in our department.

Methods: This study involved 98 outpatients who underwent psychopathological evaluation with the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview-Plus Version, Hamilton Depression Scale (HAM-D), and a Portuguese version of the NDDI-E.
Results: The NDDI-E was easily understood and quickly administered to most of the patients.
Purpose: To evaluate the frequency and intensity of psychiatric disorders in a group of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) patients from a tertiary-care center.
Methods: Clinical and sociodemographic data of 73 patients were collected and a neuropsychiatric evaluation was performed with the following instruments: Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), structured clinical interview (MINI-PLUS), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAM-D), Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS).
Results: Patients with TLE showed a high frequency of lifetime psychiatric disorders (70%), the most frequent being mood disorders (49.
Objectives: This study aims to identify birth weight variation according to maternal characteristics and gestational weight gain.
Methods: It is a cross-sectional descriptive study with 433 puerperal women (> or = 20 years old) who attended a public maternity hospital in Rio de Janeiro. The data were collected through interviews with the women and access to their medical records.

In our experience (30 cases plus four patients sent to our hospital for reintervention), this complication is not present when mechanical suture is introduced to the Duhamel's Technique. This allows us to assure that perineal rectocoloplasty, with auto-suture material is a precise optional treatment, with excellent results and allows the chance of not going through laparotomy in those cases that require reintervention.
