Thua Nao is a Thai traditional fermented soybean food and low-cost protein supplement. This study aimed to evaluate the bacterial community in Thua Nao from northern Thailand and assess potentially active short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)-related bacteria. Sixty-five Thua Nao consisting of 30 wet and 35 dried samples were collected from six provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Lamphun, and Phayao.

We had reported HbF induction property of natural curcuminoids, curcumin (Cur), demethoxycurcumin (DMC) and bis-demethoxycurcumin (BDMC), in erythroid progenitors. Herein, the HbF induction property of trienone analogs of the three curcuminoids in erythroleukemic K562 cell lines and primary human erythroid progenitor cells from β-thalassemia/HbE patients was examined.

HPV-derived oncoprotein E7 participates in cervical carcinogenesis by inducing aberrant host DNA methylation. However, the targeting specificity of E7 methylation of host genes is not fully understood but is important in the down-regulation of crucial proteins of the hallmark cancer pathways.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA decrease in genomic methylation commonly occurs in aging cells; however, whether this epigenetic modification leads to age-related phenotypes has not been evaluated. Alu elements are the major interspersed repetitive DNA elements in humans that lose DNA methylation in aging individuals. Alu demethylation in blood cells starts at approximately 40 years of age, and the degree of Alu hypomethylation increases with age.

IRSs are subdivided according to size and functionally related structures into short interspersed elements, long interspersed elements (LINEs), DNA transposons, and LTR-retrotransposons. Many IRSs may produce RNA and regulate genes by a variety of mechanisms.

Hb Bart's purified from the hemolysate of a patient with Hb Bart's hydrops fetalis (homozygous alpha-thalassemia) was used to immunize a chicken via the pectoralis muscle. After water dilution and sodium sulfate precipitation, 40 to 70 mg of IgY could be extracted from an egg.
