Pyogenic sacroiliitis: diagnosis, management and clinical outcome.

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the role of diagnostic tools and management options for patients with pyogenic sacroiliitis, including potential complications.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 16 patients with pyogenic sacroiliitis who were admitted to a single orthopaedic centre between 2007 and 2012. The following data were collected: demographics, history, radiography, magnetic resonance images (MRI), biological data, type of pathogenic agent, abscess formation, type of management, and clinical outcome.

Evaluation of a lower-body compression garment.

The aims of this study were to determine how custom-fit compression shorts affect athletic performance and to examine the mechanical properties of the shorts. Ten male and 10 female track athletes on a university's nationally competitive track team, specializing in sprint or jump events, participated in the study. Testing utilized the compression shorts with loose-fitting gym shorts as the control garment.

Value of maternal anti-D concentration in predicting the outcome of Rh(D) haemolytic disease.

The outcomes of 43 pregnancies complicated by the presence of Rhesus antibodies were studied in relation to the peak concentrations of anti-D reached during pregnancy. Antibody concentration was measured by an automated method calibrated against the British Anti-D Working Standard. Where the anti-D concentration remained below 5 IU/ml, the infants at worst suffered only moderate jaundice controllable with phototherapy.

Maternal Jka sensitization following amniocentesis and intrauterine transfusion.

Two cases of Jka sensitization following amniocentesis and intrauterine transfusion for Rh hemolytic disease are presented. In one case, previously reported, amniocentesis and intrauterine transfusion stimulated production of a second antibody. The apparent association of Jka sensitization with pregnancy is discussed.

Some aliphatic amines have been titrated enthalpimetrically. The heats of neutralization have been calculated from the results and correlated with the basicity of the amines and the number of hydroxyl and amine groups present. The titration curves were all plotted on Cartesian coordinates and again on oblique coordinates to eliminate secondary thermal effects.
