The neutrophil marker CD177 (NB1, HNA-2a) is expressed by 0-100% of circulating neutrophils in any given donor, dividing neutrophils into two distinct subpopulations (CD177pos and CD177neg). High proportions of CD177pos blood neutrophils have been linked to both systemic infections and a range of inflammatory pathologies, but whether this is a cause or a consequence of disease is not known. Many conditions displaying elevated CD177pos neutrophil proportions are also accompanied by the presence of circulating low-density granulocytes (LDGs).

The structural and electronic features of the stimuli-responsive supramolecular inter-ionic charge-transfer material containing electron accepting -benzylyridinium-4-oxime cation (BPA4) and electron donating hexacyanoferrate (II) are reported. The study of reversible stimuli-induced transformation between hydrated reddish-brown (BPA4)[Fe(CN)]·10HO and anhydrous blue (BPA4)[Fe(CN)] revealed the origin of observed hydrochromic behavior. The comparison of the crystal structures of decahydrate and anhydrous phase showed that subsequent exclusion/inclusion of lattice water molecules induces structural relocation of one BPA4 that alter the donor-to-acceptor charge-transfer states, resulting in chromotropism seen as reversible reddish-brown to blue color changes.

The structural features and optical properties of supramolecular cyanoiron salts containing bis-pyridinium-4-oxime Toxogonin (TOXO) as an electron acceptor are presented. The properties of the new TOXO-based cyanoiron materials were probed by employing two cyanoiron platforms: hexacyanoferrate(II), [Fe(CN)] (HCF); and nitroprusside, [Fe(CN)(NO)] (NP). Two water-insoluble inter-ionic donor-acceptor phases were characterized: the as-prepared microcrystalline reddish-brown (TOXO)[Fe(CN)]·8HO () with a medium-responsive, hydrochromic character; and the dark violet crystalline (TOXO)[Fe(CN)]·3.

We examined whether combinig diclofenac and metformin in doses equivalent to human doses would synergize their anticancer activity on fibrosarcoma inoculated to hamsters and in vitro. Rescue experiment was performed to examine whether the prosurvival NF-κB stimulation by mebendazole can reverse anticancer effects of the treatment. Introduction: Neuroblastoma is one of the most common childhood cancers with one of the lowest survival rates, accounting for 15% of childhood cancer mortality. Approximately half of children treated for high-risk neuroblastoma will relapse following remission, while another 15% of patients do not respond to initial treatment. External beam radiation is infrequently used for treatment of pediatric cancer such as neuroblastoma, typically reserved for palliative care in patients with aggressive metastatic disease who fail to respond to alternative treatments.

We investigated the influence of two passivating molecules containing a P═O group on the performance of quasi-2D Dion-Jacobson halide perovskite light-emitting diodes, namely, triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO) and diphenyl-4-triphenylsilylphenyl phosphine oxide (TSPO1). We found that both passivating molecules lead to increased efficiency compared to control devices, while they had opposite effects on device lifetime, with a decrease observed for TPPO and an increase observed for TSPO1. The two passivating molecules resulted in differences in energy-level alignment, electron injection, film morphology and crystallinity, and ion migration during operation.

Li and Na metals with high energy density are promising in application in rechargeable batteries but suffer from degradation in the ambient atmosphere. The phenomenon that in terms of kinetics, Li is stable but Na is unstable in dry air has not been fully understood. Here, we use environmental transmission electron microscopy combined with theoretical simulations and reveal that the different stabilities in dry air for Li and Na are reflected by the formation of compact LiO layers on Li metal, while porous and rough NaO/NaO layers on Na metal are a consequence of the different thermodynamic and kinetics in O.
