Polish women labour inspectors between the world wars: scrutinizing the workplace and mobilizing public opinion.

This article explores the history of women's activism within the state apparatus, focusing on women labour inspectors in interwar Poland. Part of the State Labour Inspectorate since its creation in 1919, women inspectors often combined their professional duties with a distinctly activist stance. Like their male colleagues, they ensured compliance with labour legislation by performing factory visits and collecting information on the conditions of workers' lives and labour.

Re-emergence of BTV serotype 4 in North Macedonia, July 2020.

Bluetongue virus serotype 4 (BTV-4) was confirmed in sheep in North Macedonia in July 2020. The full genome of this BTV-4 strain (MKD2020/06) was shown to be most closely related (99.74% nt identity) to the Greek GRE2014/08 and the Hungarian HUN1014 strains, indicating the re-emergence of this BTV serotype in the Balkan region since it was last reported in 2017.

Efficient control of the rheological and surface properties of surfactant solutions containing C8-C18 fatty acids as cosurfactants.

Systematic experimental study is performed about the effects of chain length (varied between C8 and C18) and concentration of fatty acids (FAc), used as cosurfactants to the mixture of the anionic surfactant SLES and the zwitterionic surfactant CAPB. The following properties are studied: bulk viscosity of the concentrated solutions (10 wt % surfactants), dynamic and equilibrium surface tensions, surface modulus, and foam rheological properties for the diluted foaming solutions (0.5 wt % surfactants).

Progesterone-modulated phosphatidylserine externalization in apoptosis and activation of Jurkat cells.

Problem: During pregnancy the elevated levels of progesterone (Pg) have immunomodulating effects. It is important to follow-up Pg effects on basic biological processes at cell level as apoptosis and activation which was the aim of this study.

Methods Of Study: Jurkat cells cultured in the presence or absence of Pg were used as a model system.

[Clinico-anatomic analysis of maternal mortality in the Arkhangelsk region].

Clinico-anatomical analysis is presented of 93 autopsies of pregnant women, women in childbirth and puerperas who died in 1985-1999 in the Arkhangelsk region. In this region complications after abortion occur less frequently than in Russia on the whole while the percentage of late gestosis, obstetric hemorrhage and pyoseptic complications were high than mean Russian. In small number of discrepancies between final clinical and anatomo-pathological diagnosis, high percentage of discrepancies was found in the diagnosis of the 3rd category and iatrogenia this being due to difficulties in clinical diagnosis of obstetic pathology and increasing incidence of surgical deliveries.

[Treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma by the method of combined use of hyperbaric oxygenation and antioxidants].

Thirty-five patients (64 eyes) with primary open-angle glaucoma were treated by hyperbaric oxygenation combined with antioxidants. Repeated courses were administered during 5 years. Stabilization of the visual function was attained in 80% patients.
