Capacity building in obstetric ultrasound: Impact of simulation based clinical teaching on resident training at a health facility in India.

Objective: Current postgraduate curriculum in India lacks practical training in ultrasound for residents in obstetrics and gynecology. The objective of this study was to develop and assess impact of a capacity building program utilizing clinical teaching and simulation to enhance knowledge and skills of residents at a healthcare facility in India.

Methods: A training program comprising of 14 modules on basic obstetric ultrasounds was created over 3 months.

Uterovaginal prolapse complicated by urogenital myiasis.

Urogenital myiasis is a rare entity that is usually manifested in women belonging to lower socioeconomic status residing in tropical or subtropical nations with poor hygiene or intellectual disability. It is caused by fly larvae capable of penetrating body orifices and healthy or necrotic tissue. The larvae penetrate the skin, forming painful, inflammatory nodules that can form fistula to the internal organs or the skin's surface.

Aggressive precursor B cell ALL of cervix with obstructive uropathy.

Involvement of the cervix with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is extremely rare. In this case report, we discuss an unmarried woman in her early 20s, who presented in the emergency with lower abdominal pain and irregular vaginal bleeding for 1 month. Clinical examination and imaging revealed a large cervical mass probably neoplastic with obstructive uropathy.

May-Thurner Syndrome in a Case of Left Iliofemoral Vein Thrombosis With Contralateral Tubo-Ovarian Abscess in the Post-postpartum Period.

May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) is a rare, yet important, differential diagnosis in reproductive-age women with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). It is characterized by the compression of the left common iliac vein by the right common artery against the lumbar vertebra. The condition is complicated by recurrent DVT with pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE).

Ureteric Leiomyosarcoma.

Ureteric leiomyosarcoma is a rare but aggressive tumor among other sarcomas. There is no established epidemiological data due to the scarcity of literature on this uncommon disorder. The present literature comprises about 20 case reports mostly of women above 40 years of age.

Acute non-puerperal uterine inversion ascribed to malignant mixed Mullerian tumor of uterus: a rare presentation.

Non-puerperal uterine inversion is an extremely uncommon condition, and its occurrence due to malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (MMMT) of the uterus is quite exceptional. We report one such case of acute non-puerperal uterine inversion ascribed to MMMT in a 77-year-old postmenopausal woman. Such a case poses a diagnostic and management dilemma, and prior knowledge may result in a successful outcome.
