We have grown (111)- and (001)-oriented NiO thin films on (0001)-Sapphire and (001)-MgO substrates using pulsed laser deposition (PLD), respectively. DC magnetic susceptibility measurements underline that the Néel temperatures of the samples are beyond room-temperature. This is further confirmed by the presence of two-magnon Raman scattering modes in these films in ambient conditions.

Background and objective Postoperative pain after biomechanical preparation of root canals can be equally distressing to the patient as well as the dentist and can mold the patient's attitude and trust for future dental procedures. This randomized clinical trial aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of rotary and reciprocating single-file systems on postoperative pain after biomechanical preparation in patients with chronic apical periodontitis. Materials and methods In this randomized clinical trial (CTRI Reg No-CTRI/2021/04/032841), 94 patients with chronic apical periodontitis in single straight-rooted teeth were divided equally into two groups, according to a standardized protocol.

Article Synopsis
  • Drought stress caused by climate change negatively impacts plant growth and agricultural yield, prompting research into solutions to enhance drought tolerance.
  • Nitric oxide (NO) is emerging as a significant player in plant science for its ability to improve drought resilience by influencing key processes such as stomatal movement, oxidative stress reduction, and various physio-biochemical activities.
  • Ongoing research aims to clarify the mechanisms of NO's action in drought conditions, emphasizing its potential role in sustainable agriculture and food security in drought-affected regions.

Among legumes, lentil serves as an imperative source of dietary proteins and are considered an important pillar of global food and nutritional security. The crop is majorly cultivated in arid and semi-arid regions and exposed to different abiotic stresses. Drought stress is a polygenic stress that poses a major threat to the crop productivity of lentils.

The mitochondrial disorder-Leigh syndrome is a neurodegenerative disorder often manifested with brainstem abnormalities. The case report highlights the auditory brainstem response in a child with medical findings suggestive of Leigh syndrome. The case report also emphasizes the importance of ruling out any underlying neural pathology before making a clinical impression in children with developmental delays.

Policy advocates commonly use income diversification strategies worldwide to address economic disturbances such as poverty. Realizing the importance of poverty reduction and the raging debate on whether the household should specialize or diversify their income, this study attempts to investigate the poverty and income diversification nexus in a tea estate of Bangladesh. A multistage sampling procedure was applied to select 1 tea estate and 382 households.

Powdered micro- or nano-particles photocatalyst has separation and recovery challenges, which may create a second pollution to environment and harmful to animals. To address those issues, SnO, CuO and CuO-SnO p-n heterojunction thin films are formed on glass substrates using efficient co-sputtering method that is commonly employed for large-area high-definition display panel. Using first-order kinetics, 100 °C ultraviolet (UV) annealed CuO-SnO p-n heterojunction shows the superb fast degradation rate constant of 0.

This work reports the first nanocrystalline SnON (7.6% nitrogen content) nanosheet n-type Field-Effect Transistor (nFET) with the transistor's effective mobility (µ) as high as 357 and 325 cm/V-s at electron density (Q) of 5 × 10 cm and an ultra-thin body thickness (T) of 7 nm and 5 nm, respectively. At the same T and Q, these µ values are significantly higher than those of single-crystalline Si, InGaAs, thin-body Si-on-Insulator (SOI), two-dimensional (2D) MoS and WS.

TiO/InO nanowire (NW) array are prepared using catalyst free glancing angle deposition technique. The wettability of TiO/InO NW surface are tuned and controlled by the annealing treatment without altering the surface with additional chemical coating. The phase change, surface roughness, change in static and dynamic contact angles due to the heat treatment are studied.

Background And Aim: Diagnosis of query fever (QF) is mostly done on the basis of serological/molecular tests, due to the stringent requirement of biosafety level-3 containment facilities for isolating in culture. QF is an important zoonosis and is considered to be an occupational hazard to livestock handlers. This report describes our study on the serological as well as molecular evidence of QF in animal handlers from Puducherry and surrounding Tamil Nadu, from where, to the best of our knowledge, no such reports are available so far.

Background: In the recent past, scrub typhus (ST) has been reported from different parts of India, based on Weil-Felix/enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)/indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Molecular tests are applied only by a few researchers.

Aims: Evaluation of a new commercial real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) kit for molecular diagnosis of ST by comparing it with the commonly used IgM ELISA is our aim.

In past few decades, emotional intelligence (EI) has gained much popularity worldwide. Intelligence quotient alone is not enough in today's age for achieving success and hence for developing a person's ability, the fields of psychology and neurosciences have highlighted the importance of EI, which is a person's response toward feelings and emotions. In this study, relationship of various demographic variables with EI, as measured by Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form, has been highlighted.

Aim is to assess the anti-biofilm property of tenorite nanoparticles and to study their suitability as a possible coating material for medical implants. Tenorite (CuO) nanoparticles were synthesized by the optimized thermal decomposition method and characterized using TEM, XRD, FTIR and UV-Vis analysis. Their influence on biofilm formation of microbes was studied by growing multi drug resistant bacterial strains in the presence or absence of these nanoparticles at various concentrations.
