The meanings of differential health care given by health professionals of the Alto Rio Negro DSEI-AM, Brazil.

This article discusses the meanings of differentiated health care guideline given by health professionals from the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Team (EMSI) who work at the Alto Rio Negro Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI-ARN). This exploratory, descriptive, analytical, and qualitative study conducted 15 semi-structured interviews with professionals from the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Teams of the DSEI-ARN, which were submitted to content analysis. The four meaning cores identified from the analyses were: Differentiated care as a way of providing primary care in the territory; Actions conducted under the population's cultural differences; Self-care, traditional medicine, and the construction of therapeutic itineraries; and Professionals' challenges and difficulties in addressing traditional indigenous health care.

Background: Despite the preventive policies adopted, reduction in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among men who have sex with men (MSM) has been limited. The risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has increased among the most vulnerable population groups, including MSM. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of HCV infection and to assess risky practices among MSM from 12 Brazilian cities.

The role of glycated hemoglobin in the diagnosis of prediabetes and diabetes mellitus in young women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Objective: To compare glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) for the diagnosis of prediabetes and diabetes in young women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Patients And Design: This cross-sectional study included 154 women aged 20-40 years with a diagnosis of PCOS, who were screened for prediabetes and diabetes by the OGTT and HbA1c. Women with diabetes, hyperprolactinemia, thyroid or adrenal diseases, and anemia and users of hormonal contraception or corticosteroids were excluded.
