An in vitro assessment of optimizing implant positions in bilateral distal extension implant-assisted removable partial dentures: A microstress analysis.

Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the stress distribution on dental implants in various positions when used with implant-assisted removable partial dentures.

Settings And Design: This was an in vitro study.

Materials And Methods: A model representing a mandibular bilateral partially edentulous condition, with missing premolars and molars, was fabricated using epoxy resin.

Screw-retained implant restorations have an advantage of predictable retention, retrievability, and lack of potentially retained subgingival cement. Association of Neutral Zone Position with Age, Gender, and Period of Edentulism.

Purpose: The changing dynamics of an aging mouth influence the position of the neutral zone (NZ). While the advantage of the NZ concept in complete denture treatment is quite established, what is not clearly understood is its position in relation to the crest of the residual ridge due to conflicting reports from previous studies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the distance and direction of NZ position in relation to crest of the residual ridge in edentulous patients and its association with age, gender, and period of edentulism.

The Effect of Primer on Bond Strength of Silicone Prosthetic Elastomer to Polymethylmethacrylate: An in vitro Study.

Introduction: The aim of the study is to evaluate interfacial bond strength between silicone prosthetic elastomers and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA).

Materials And Methods: Silicone elastomers were attached to PMMA and a total 120 specimens were fabricated which were then subdivided into 12 sub-groups. Each sample was then subjected to laboratory test to determine the bond strength.

Comparative evaluation of maximum bite force in dentulous and edentulous individuals with different facial forms.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mean maximum bite force in dentulous and edentulous individuals with Angle's class-I occlusion and to assess the effect of different facial forms such as Square, Square-tapering, tapering and ovoid on the biting force.

Materials And Methods: The study consisted of 160 subjects in total. Out of these 160, 80 were dentulous subjects and remaining 80 were edentulous subjects who had received treatment for his/her missing teeth by fabrication of a complete denture.

Guiding intellect for occlusal errors.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to quantify occlusal errors seen, during the processing of complete denture.

Material And Methods: Maxillary and mandibular complete dentures were fabricated for 30 subjects. Anterior and posterior markings were made on articulator and the distance was measured from these points before and after processing of complete dentures.

Evaluation of the polished surface characteristic of cobalt-chrome castings subsequent to various finishing and polishing techniques.

Finishing and Polishing constitutes an essential requisite after the fabrication of removable partial dentures. Improper finishing and polishing of cast framework will adversely affect the quality of functional units of partial dentures due to reduced dimensions. In this study the polished surface characteristic and loss of weight of the casting were evaluated and compared following different finishing and polishing techniques.
